for the record if you go to the store with a dollar you can't get a Snickers AND an Almond Joy. I opted for the 296 and 1350 fps. No regrets. I suppose I've officialy stepped into the hard hitting market. I publicly thank you sir.

Rocking and rolling.
My hand got tired and quit squeezing the snot out of my Accu-Sport .45 Bisley today. Then I shot the best group ever from that gun by a wide margin - with the same load.

I see how it is. Whit has the good shooting shooting gloves and he lets Lee use some old gardenign gloves! As far as happy medium I don't think so. I don't think there is one. I think like gun grips it MUST be an individual thing. Fermin's stature is about as different from mine as it can get. He is stout. Think fireplug, but harder. His hand size goes with that stature, but so does hand strength. Compare that to Lee at 6-1, 155 (eat some cake man!) and bigger hands, but again - hand strength. I'm 6-1, about 210 and haven't lifted weights for many years. Bad knees and bad shoulder & elbow kind of did me in so my hand strength is probably very average. If I try to muscle my grip too much to stop the recoil I get the shakes very quickly. If I hold 'firm' and let it come up I can shoot for longer period of time before the shakes set in. POI changes between the two of course so I try to be consistent with firm, but not choking it to death like some here on this board have often recommended - squeezing until just before blood comes out of your nails. That simply does not work for me. I think it is very much an individual thing that everyone needs to find for themselves by - what else - practicing! How far are you VA boys from Baltimore, MD anyway?

I see how it is. Whit has the good shooting shooting gloves and he lets Lee use some old gardenign gloves! It is entirely his choice! He wears his gardening gloves with pride! On a side note, I only paid $5.00 for my shooting gloves! Technique plays a great roll in this. At 6-ft and 215-lbs, I have a good 60-lbs on Lee, but he controls these monsters with little trouble. He is in good shape and has a really strong grip that doesn't fatigue nearly as quickly as mine does. I've seen better days, and can assure you that even though I am more that 200-lbs in stature, rapidly heading north towards the big 50, I was much more dangerous and physically capable as a middle weight....... ;D ;D

I'm going to have to resort to gloves to keep my 475 from cutting my thumb off a layer at a time. I have some really soft and thin leather gloves from work that the fingers only come to the knuckle that should work good.

You could knock the edge off that thing.... Don't tempt me! There are several edges that could use some attention on a BFR! I'd love to see one with the top strap sculpted like a Ruger.

You could knock the edge off that thing.... Indeed! This was the trouble I had with mine and the Micarta grips. It moved around too much and put the spot between my first two knuckles of my trigger finger (I have a nice divot there now) in contact with the sharp edges of the trigger guard. The rubber grips stopped the movement, and a fine file took care of the sharp edge. I would highly recommend taking some of the edges down with a file.

I see how it is. Whit has the good shooting shooting gloves and he lets Lee use some old gardenign gloves! I've had those gloves since buying my X-Frame 500 in 2003. Set me back $3.00 and they've absorbed thousands of rounds of the big stuff. They're not stylish but they work. In fact, I find they protect my hands better than high end shooting gloves. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

One of the frist thing I did with mine was take it to Alan Harton with instructions to take all the sharp edges off of it. I've never held a handgun before with such edges and I no longer see suprising blotches of red after each cylinder full!

Well I have a bunch of files. But I would NEVER take one to a gun I wanted to remain pretty! ;D

Sheeit. I have seen guys of Lee's stature that were tougher than hell. And stronger than barbed wire. I remember one wiry little bastage with arms like my little girl. Danged if I could beat him arm wrestling....That country boy was STRONG!
