Hey whit - Got any more pictures of the 29-2. I have a couple of them. One is a safe queen and the other is a real beater, gets allot of woods walking and general banging around. Kind of nice to have a piece that I don't have to baby. Tell me again what the barrel length is on your 500 max. Thinking it's 6"? I think I do, let me do some digging. The Max's barrel is right around 6 1/4-inch.

Ok guys you said you were sighting in the 500Max how do you go about it? I find that where I hit from sand bags complared to a sitting/offhand POI is WAY different and only gets more different the heavier the recoil gets. Heck I sight in my revolvers by sitting against a tire, tree or something with my knees drawn up and my hands resting on top of my knees. I used to lock my hands between my knees but found that effected the POI too much from offhand to be useful other that proving loads out... That's always been my issue. I can shoot good groups on sand bags, but POI is wildly different than my standard offhand. I've finally settled on resting my forearms on the bags, just behind my wrists. Of course, I can't shoot those tiny groups like Whit & Lee.... My other way of sighting in (and long range shooting) is similar to yours. Sit slightly reclining with my back against fence post, tree, or truck tire & knees drawn up. However, I lock my wrists between knees & find my POI is similar to offhand shooting. Of course, I'm not firing anything hotter than a .44 Mag or .45 Colt.

I've used the seated, gun between the knees position before for long range shooting, and it does work well. As was said, it's interesting to see how applying pressure to your hands with your knees affects the POI.
Just make sure you don't ever let the barrel/cylinder gap get near your knees/shins. Don't ask me how I know this...

Here's another three-shot group. For some reason, the rotation didn't take......

Thanks Whit. I ask about barrel length because of how well proportioned that Max of yours looks. The gun I just sent out should be perfect with a 500 jrh length cylinder and a 5 1/2 barrel. Still debating the flutes on the cylinder, partial to that traditional look. Interesting old 29-2. I am thinking of sending the beater I have out for a refinish. She's pretty wore out on the out side but they say it's what's on the inside that counts and inside she's nice and shiny. Really enjoy your and Lee's range session posts.

Thank you!
5 1/2-inches with a barrel band? It is one of my favorite barrel lengths. I have a Bisley in .45 Colt with a 5 1/2-inch barrel and it balances perfectly.

these are the first pics I've ever seen of Lee. I don't know why But I always expected him to be bigger no offense meant. Maybe because he shoots such hand cannons I thought you had to be a big guy to do it. The pics of you guns and groups really are incredible and I love them. But they sure do make me feel like a little girl. yesterday I had a hard time with my .45 ss bisley and 340gr going 1250. But at least you all give me hope ha ha

Here are a couple more that I just got. Lee's not really a small guy, just lean.
