Whit....they claim it became a cataloged model but they're not out there. Never seen one on the distributor sites or auction.com's. If you want one I think your best bet is the custom shop. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Have your dealer order the JRH direct.

I bought my 500JRH from grabagun.com for $803
It was listed as 5.5", but it showed up wiht a 7.5"(8.25") barrel.
Bud's gun shop was showing a 5.5" JRH last time I looked, but don't be surprised if it shows up with a longer tube.

Could someone tell me if a Bowen rear sight will fit on a BFR?

I don't mind editing it, but whats wrong with it? If anyone notices a 5.5 inch barrel 500 JRH would appreciate a heads up. I can't seem to locate one anywhere. Will call BFR on Monday to see if any have been built.

Watch Gunbroker,I picked up a BRAND NEW 50 AE for $500,then sent it to MRI for another cylinder for about $250 with shipping. One word of warning I guess, saying this with never having to send my BFR or any of my Rugers back for repair, there is a disclamer on the MRI website stating that their warranty is only valid IF the weapon was purchased from an actual store front business. I have no idea how they could back this or if they would argue, just passing it along because I read it.

Again, I handled an off-the-shelf 5.5-inch BFR in .500 JRH last weekend. They are apparently available now.

I've either personally handled more than a few weapons or been told by factory reps they would be produced and in the pipeline within 3 months at the annual NRA conventions that either never made it to production or took a couple of years to get there.
Two come to mind immediately, one was the Ruger mini 14 in .308 that I held in my hands back about 1985 or 86 at the NRA convention in Seattle. Then recently a S&W 329 XL which S&W swore up and down not only had they made them but they were in the pipeline. Then at SCI in Feb of this year the S&W rep told me they never made one. My point being the factories often do not have a clue as to what they will make or when.
Still, here is hoping the 5.5 inch model hits the shelves pretty soon. Sounds like a winner.
If ya'all see one online or in a local store shoot me a message and I'll buy it.

On the barrel lengths, most "as in all others" measure from front of frame to end of tube,BFR measures from front of cylinder to end of tube EXCEPT apparently for Precision Center guns... After waiting for over a year each for a couple of "production Ruger's" and way over a year for a "production Marlin" was not only touched by a friend at the SHOT Show AND listed in the Marlin cataloge but never entered production...unless I see it and touch it,it does not exist.

Sports South carries them. The last time I looked they had them in stock and they will probably have more in soon.
