This is a group at 20 yards offhand. Nothing exceptional, but it is representative of what the gun and I can do when I bear down and do my part. Nothing fancy with the load, MO bullets 255 gr SWC over 10gr AA5 and mixed brass. Gun is as it left the factory.

BFR 357 Bushnell rxs250 15.5gr wc820 200gr MP powder coated with gator GC 31yds shooting distance from bench I just fired these two groups consecutively a few minutes ago to test some gator checks that just came in. The group with the shot to center bull was the first group fired from a cold bore. I dont look at the group in my binos until im done shooting so i dont know if the center shot was the cold bore or not. Nothing hidden and nothing excluded. 12 consecutive rounds fired. Looks like 11 of 12 will go into <1". This is the kind of consistency im looking for and ill start taking this load out to distance asap.

The only picture I have is the one in my avatar. My SBH Hunter in .44 mag with 11 grains of Unique and a 240 grain Cheycast hard cast “Keith” off the bench at fifty yards. The gun is very probably capable of better, the shooter, not so much. I’m not as much shooter as I am hunter, so minute of heart/lung is good.

Very nice shooting drycreek. Im a hunter as well, but a mediocre shooting gun doesnt instill much confidence when you are squeezing the trigger even when you are thinking in terms of heart/lung accuracy. I want all i can get......and then a little more. 😁

A 3 SHOT 1 3/16ths" CENTER TO CENTER GROUP, SHOT ALMOST 26 YEARS AGO, @ 110 YARDS WITH AN OPEN SIGHTED 5.5" 45 COLT TLA REVOLVER, I SAVED THE TARGET. ADDED 3/6/24: THOUGH THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL GROUP IT WAS NOT A FLUKE. AT THE TIME I WAS DOING A LOT OF SHOOTING WITH SCOPED FA REVOLVERS IN 45 COLT (454 EQUIVALENT LOADS) AND WAS REGULARLY GETTING SUB 2 INCH GROUPS AT 110 YARDS. THIS TLA GUN WITH THAT LOAD WAS VERY ACCURATE AND WHEN I WENT AND CHECKED THE 110 YARD GROUP I HAD OUT SHOT MY SCOPED FA REVOLVERS SO I KEPT THE TARGET. IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME BUT I AM SURE I NEVER HAVE DONE AS GOOD WITH THAT OR ANY OTHER REVOLVER AT 110 YRARDS.

Rey, that is a fine looking target, I would hide that one in the safe, Callshot or Tyrone will be sneaking around trying to snatch that beauty!!

Im impressed that you had the intestinal fortitude to stop and not shoot the other 3. Ive never been able to do that. We all know what the outcome generally is.

The human element is difficult to eliminate with a revolver. I have not had good luck with a Ransom Rest and hunting loads. It seems to me that mechanical accuracy would be more easily determined with a scope than a dot (though you shoot a dot very well). In my limited experience, 50-100 yards better displays the minutia of load and technique. I watched a video of a world class silhouette shooter doing load development with a scoped FA 353. He stacked 5 shots on a swinger at 150 yards (or meters?). It was eye opening. Below is another wallet group, shot with a friends scoped Super Blackhawk. He wanted to know if his load was any good. Two at 25, then three at fifty.

All some exceptional wallet groups. Im afraid the theme of my post has been lost. Im looking for what can consistently be done, not what happens when all the stars align, "and i do my part". Shooting rifle matches for many years, i learned EVERYONE has sub 1/4 minute rifles, they just never bring them to the matches to shoot! Consistency is key.

I KNOW MY LIMITS AND PROPENSITIES AND NEARLY ALWAYS LIMIT MY GROUP TESTING TO 3 SHOTS AT A TIME AND, IN REVOLVERS, I USUALLY ONLY LOAD 3 AT A TIME WHEN GROUP TESTING.

It's been a while since I took out my Lipsey Flattop 44 Special, but here it is at 25 yds. with iron sights and the old "Skeeter" load.
