Hey Guys. Posting on the Mikkenger thread i questioned myself about the love or hate factor of the Dragoon Square Back Trigger guard. I am curious. A gentleman has me designing a Keith Number five with a dragoon trigger guard at this moment. Cant even guess whether i will like it or not yet. But ole FrankenFab really surprised me! I am going to ask all of you to please let me know your thoughts and opinions on the Square Back versus round in taste only. DO YOU LOVE IT, DO YOU HATE IT, OR JUST IN THE MIDDLE. I want to pole it if you would all be so kind! L! (Love), or H! (Hate) or M! (Middle) Thanks guys, this might be fun! Ronnie PS didnt want to Hijack a good thread on the Mikkenger!

COLT DROPPED IT WITH THE 3RD MODEL DRAGOON IN THE 1850s. THE RUGER EVEN WITH LIGHTER LOADS BUSTS MY KNUCKLE.

Knuckle buster on even my 10 inch 357 Max. My only two Dragoon frame guns get shot only rarely- the 357 Max and an otherwise sweet Bowen Blackhawk.
The FrankenFab gives plenty of space though, and looks classy despite my earlier assumptions.
Put me down for an H

Can’t stand it! Only gun I still have thus equipped is my seldom shot Max with 10-1/2 barrel. Only reason it doesn’t bang up knuckle is I fitted and slightly reshaped an old set of Herretts Shooting Star grips. Like JT even mild .44 Specials get my knuckle

For my .44 Magnums and .45 Colts, prefer it: Bob Wright

The only gun I have with the square back guard has oversized grips from Altamont on it, but I’m still kind of in the middle. I can take it or leave it.

IT DOES WORK FOR ME ON THE ORIGINALS: 1847 WALKER; 1ST, 2ND, AND 3RD MODEL DRAGOONS,1851 NAVY I love the way it Looks! I just cant use it on Boomers! I Love the SBH Grip Shape! That was the main reason i put a Bisley trigger guard and trigger on that version. ( SBH-BTG) Make some more room for my middle Sausage! Moves the trigger guard forward bowt an eighth!

I'll have to be an "M"
I have no problem with it up to a certain power level. I appreciate the extra length for my hand to fit on.
After recoil gets so high, I don't shoot them without Badger Grips in place. Completely eliminates the knuckle bashing.
I've always found solutions more productive than complaining.
I've got three D-MAXs, a Ruger SBH 357 Maximum and my new Clements 44-40 with this gripframe.

Hate it - knuckle buster for sure. Never could get comfortable with grips panels that filled in the gap.
