...what is needed is a 10mm rimmed case of whatever length. .400 Colt, .401 PowerMag, 10mm Auto Rim...whatever. To have a case that heaspaced on the case rim instead of the case mouth would make adequate crimping so much easier and no worry about bullet pull...
I've spoken to Jack about having a .32 Single-Six converted to .38 Super...he said no problem at all. I even have two possible doner guns, a 4 5/8" blue and a stainless Birdshead... Just having a hard time justifing it was I already have four DA revolvers in .38 Super...and it is my favorite semi-auto pistol round...
Wonder is a FA 97 .357 could be converted to 10mm.....hummmmm...I need to go shovel snow before I get carried away...again...

I actually had never thought about that before. But being that it’s an auto case with taper crimp is bullet pull an issue with heavy 10mm loads in a lightweight revolver? Do they make a roll crimp die for 10mm for tailoring loads for a revolver? Now you have me wondering! The allure of the single six is the much more compact frame size with a few features it could hover around 32oz I would think.

That's one thick walled cylinder. Looks thicker than most 454s. Will add strength, but also weight. I'll be curious how much the finished weight is. I'd bet more than a FA97 44 Special or 45 Colt. Jack told me that he made it thick enough so that you could beat the tar out of it without beating the tar out of the revolver. It's stout little bugger.

You gonna love it!

I spoke to Jack about it. He is working on my 218 Bee Single Six at the same time, I hope...

That looks great. pretty much exactly the configuration I’ll have jack make me. vaquero style frame j frame sights stainless finish fluted cylinder and two different grip frames. if anyone has a stainless fixed sight single six let me know!

simple45...yes it is an issue. I have a GP-100 MC and have seen some bullet pull with both handloads and factory loads if the loads are hot enough.
I have not yet checked with Lee if they will make a Carbide Factory Crimp Die but they have for several other calibers that they don't stock for so they should...
Problem with a roll crimped 10mm in a SA is that all the headspace is dependent on the case mouth properly seated against the shelf in the chamber...put too much taper crimp or a roll crimp on a straight walled case and you will end up with misfires... The DA doesn't have to worry about that because the rounds are in clips which control the headspace... If one wanted to shoot the roll crimped rounds in a DA w/o clips there would be the same problem...

Thankyou for sharing that information. something to think about with hot loads in a small frame.

I checked and yes, Lee does have a Carbide Factory Crimp die for the 10mm that also works for .40 S&W... I have not even looked at my die set yet but it is probably a Lee...

Thanks for checking up. my idea for the 10mm in a light packable style single six frame is 180-200 grain bullets at 1250-1300 for hunting and in the mountains then something a little lighter around the farm and of course cheap fmj loads for plinking. You brought up a good point on the crimping I hadn’t thought about yet.

I seat the bullets out in my 10mm Trail Gun (Single Six). Performance is fantastic with the 6" barrel and nearly no barrel gap.
With Reader's tight chambers, a very firm crimp can be applied and still have proper headspace.
I've had zero bullet creep in mine. I use Lee Dies, but taper crimp in a separate step from bullet seating.
