the only revolver i have is the ruger sbh with a 4 5/8" barrel in 44 mag. i use 280gr wfn and a snootful of unique. just recently i am loading 255gr keith over unique(skeeter load) in 44 special. i find the 44 spl load is the one that i go to.

I would love to dive into a 480 or 475 Linebaugh. But since I don't cast my own bullets yet, I appreciate the economy of loading 44, though 45 would be very similar. The deals that come my way always seem to be 44s (though I did pass on a sweet deal on a 480 Super Redhawk).

Has anybody got any pictures of custom 44 mag? Not a full fledged custom, but my 5" Model 29 Full Lug .44: And an 8 3/8" Model 29 Full Lug: The same Model 29 after being cut to a more usable 6" barrel: New Model Super Blackhawk, Millett rear sight, Blackhawk hammer, color case by Doug Turnbull: Three Screw Super Blackhawk, Blackhawk hammer, color case by Doug Turnbull: Three Screw Super Blackhawk, Blackhawk hammer, barrel cut to 5", case color by Doug Turnbull: Most of my .44 have only a little custom work, which is sufficient for me. Nothing custom yet but here's my 44 family. Ruger 44 Carbine, Bisley 44 Magnum, Herters Powermag 44 Magnum and the little brother 44 Special Bisley Flattop. I had just put the bases and rings back on the carbine but hadn't put the scope back on. It normally wears a Leupold 2.5x.

I'm a huge advocate of the 44 magnum! (owning several). It has taken every game animal on earth. What more do you need? Once that hard cast bullet penetrates completely through what you are shooting, anything else is just more noise and muzzle blast! IMO

Ford or Chevy? Its always a matter of choice but nothing will EVER replace the 44 magnum as the #1 hunting six gun in the country. Many others are great but only one can be #1. I love the 41 magnum & the 45 Colt but put a 250 gr bullet in all 3 calibers & every animal they hit correctly is history.
