I do wonder though if it's the recoil that is causing the clips to deform or something else. Generally when I've seen clips get out of shape it's been from someone popping the empties out a little too aggressively. So maybe operator error? Other thought would be: is the win mag brass maybe just a hair thicker at the groove? That might push the openings a little wider than the other rounds like and leave it loosey goosey on those other cartridges.
I've got mixed feelings on the 10mm GP-100 otherwise. Conceptually it seems cool. Light magnum power with moon clip reload speed seems like a great step towards a nice packing revolver. Then again, I looked over a Match Champion 357 at Cabelas last night. DA and SA, even with "match" tuning, seemed rougher than I like. Certaintly not at the level as an old Smith, Colt, or even Taurus. I've always heard the Ruger double actions are hard to improve. How much could a good gunsmith do to clean it up?

Was looking for a used GP 100 to send to Clements but now I have another option.

In the end this option will be cheaper than sending one to Clements, but the one that comes back from Clements will in my opinion be nicer. I wonder when they will be offering different under lug and barrel lengths?

Thing to do is get one of these and have him fit the custom cylinder to the factory barrelled frame.
Would save you the cost of a rebore......

For the revolver I think I'll just stick to the .41.

I'm keeping both my Clements .41spl 686 and the 10MM GP Clements I bought a while back on the Ruger forum...............

I like the lighter weight midsize frame and barrel. The 10MM has a lot of pop with 200 gr. hardcast. I think I would stay away from the 10MM magnum. The .44 SRH would take over from there.

Thinking about this...isn't this the gun/cartridge/bullet combination that Keith, Jordan and Skelton wanted the gun/ammo manufacturers to come out with as the optimum LE handgun back in the early 1960s...and what they got was an overly large for most LEOs N-frame with a Magnum round that they were all disappointed in....
Now it doesn't have the traditional revolver cartridge rim, but is that so bad. Using moon clips the gun can be loaded even faster than with speed loaders and it would be very easy to carry 4 clips of ammo in two speedloader pouches vs. only two for a speedloader.
And the 10mm rounds have everything from the 180 grain low recoil rounds that equal the .40 S&W and .38-40 up to ammo that boarder on the .41 Magnum....
The perfect LE revolver/cartridge combination...54 years too late? And who says there can't be a 10mm Auto Rim one day...Starline, are you listening?

I rate it right up there with the flat top .44spl. for being innovative and answering user demand. Someone at Ruger is liatening to all the chatter on the forums. See below..........

Would you like to see a 10mm Auto Rim??? If so please let Starline know and if enough people ask and state how much they would buy who knows...they are now making .41 Special aren't they...and there are not even any dedicated .41 Special revolvers commercially made...just customs. www.starlinebrass.com/about-us/contact-us.cfmJust click on Select One and put in New Cartridge Suggestion... Thanks...Bob

Have you read this thread??? singleactions.proboards.com/thread/22550/mwm-bed-strange-mindthe "other Clements customer" referred to in my thread is buying 10,000 10 mm rimmed cases in order to get Starline to produce a 10mm rimmed... I committed to buy 500-1000 of those if that person or company will sell them... in the mean time, I'm making my own rimmed... I don't really have an interest in the "auto rim" format, with the rim the thickness of a normal rim plus the thickness of a moon clip... I'm hoping to make my standard thickness rimmed cases work in my converted GP-100 with the cylinder not shortened for moon clips, & in the 10mm single actions...

No I had missed your other post...interesting. I was under the impression that a minimum custom order required 55K pieces. That I believe is what dixie had to order when Starline made the first .41 Special brass for him...plus pay for a new headstamp die.

I could be wrong... maybe Dave said 50,000 cases?
