gives you the warm fuzzies???
I bought some brass recently... in those were 100 - 45-70 cases... last night I was punching primers, & throwing them in the wet tumbler... just handling them does something to me, & I realized it's been much too long, since I've had one of my 45-70's out... I don't know if it's the shear size, the fact that they are big & straight wall, & I can see down into them... the diameter of the base... not sure why, but even handling empty 45-70 cases gives me the warm fuzzies, that I don't get from any other cartridge, even 416 Rigby... so it's not just the case size...
anyone else have a cartridge that effects them more than any other???

In a rifle, it's my 280. I don't know why, it's no different than all the other '06 variations that are out there, I just love handling and loading for it. Maybe it's cause I invested in nickle plated cartridges to look good with my black and silver ballistic silver tips..
In a handgun, my first love is the 41 mag. But as of recently, it's moved to the 500 JRH. Handling either one of those just puts me in a mood that doesn't tire me out on the single stage press and allows me to just go and go and go...

.38 Super...after reading the first magazine article about it in I think 1967 I was hooked...
Didn't buy one until 1980 but since then have had a couple dozen, everything from a TC Contender to custom 1911s...
My handle on the 1911 Forums is SuperMan...Man of Many Supers...

For me it's the 44 magnum/special. Revolvers in 44 always warm my heart, but I equally love a compact, handy carbine in 44 mag. The fact that they both run the same ammo is icing on the cake.

I have often trod a different path and because of this I pretty much have settled on the 9.3x74r and the 250 Savage. Both do something for me that is beyond logic. Betcha wonโt be seeing that stuff on the Walmart shelf.

I've long been a 45-70 fanatic & own a half dozen firearms so chambered...But truthfully, just about anything that goes bang gives me the "warm fuzzies."

Recently grabbing a Hawkeye has me agreeing with Russ in regards to the .256 Win Mag!
The 44 Special, is just that and if I have to say why, well....
I will say that I feel the .44 Russian has a better aesthetic value sorta like the 45 Schoffield...I just feel like they look "balanced"{

Recently picked up a 1894 Marlin on 25-20 and a Marlin 62 in 256 winmag.... so the 25's are of a real interest to me as of late. But there is alao the 45-70... the 44 magnum, the 38 special, the 45acp, a myriad of 22lr's abd soon a new 45c ๐ค๐

41 Mag for me. It can do anything I want in a handgun caliber. Self defense to hunting... can't think of much I can't do with it. Never latched onto the 44 or 45. Nothing against them, but the 41 is just different enough.

I reload for around 80 different calibers, so lots of brass touch my hands... I also sell brass at one gun show a year, so I've often got other cartridge cases in my hands that I don't load for... like the short magnums... but that 45-70 is just something else ( I also load for 50-70 ) & while the cases are similar, I just know when I have 4-5 of the 45-70 in my mitts... like I said, I'm not sure the connection, but I don't get that out of my Nickel 375 H&H, or other brass or nickel cases... there is just something about the 45-70
