I asked Dave about OM vs. NM for the conversion; also about S&W style rear sights. Here is his answer:
"The NM is the way to go. I will have a newly designed rear for the fixed sight guns."

For those of you considering this conversion: What specs are you thinking about? 32 vs 327, barrel length/shape, adjustable factory sights/fixed/David’s adjustable rear sight, blue vs stainless, etc. I’m kinda waiting for some of the pics to come up on his website to help make decision. Just wanted to see what others were thinking. Marshall

As of right now, I'm thinking stainless 3" barrel shopkeeper, in 32 Mag, with octagon barrel and dovetailed front site. Going to call it my "pocket protector."

He responded to what I wanted by saying OK and that my cylinder was on the lathe.... Said he had 7 orders so far. Apparently folks often drop out when the time comes....

Aaaah that.....327.
That was the original plan and as I think it will be the first one I'm going to stick with it.
However, as I have been fooling around with these .32s I did think about a .32 mag.
In all honesty that's probably the best choice but I figured I can shoot .32 mags out of this one or load it down a little. I can always get a .32 built later.
A big reason to go with the .32 H&R is being able to shoot longer bullets out of it. I'm not really concerned with high velocity out of this little gun.
For me this one will be about fun.

When David first put the Bearcat conversion up on his website last year, I thought I would go with the 327. But I have one of the Ruger 327 8 shot Blackhawks so I’m thinking that the size of the bearcat would make the 32 mag. a great choice. I’m trying to decide about the factory adjustable sights vs the fixed w/ David’s adj. sights. The factory adjustable sight model just doesn’t look as clean and sleek but the octagon barrel with the more squared off lines of the adj. sight frame would probably match up nicely. That’s why I would like to see some pictures to see how it would look. I don’t have a base gun yet. I want to get my 9 yo. son a Bearcat to leave as a .22 and send to David for at least the tune up job, maybe more. He actually likes the look of the adj. sight model better.

Just passing along what he said about folks getting excited and changing their minds.... You must be one of the 7. Nothing really special about getting one soon either....wait a year and they'll all be the same..... I simply had an adjustable sight gun he wanted to use to try and figure out the builds so I sent it to him last year. They'll be fun.

Frank That’s a good point. Would the 135s be too long out of the 32 H&R cylinder?
