Now this is going to be really interesting. As you guys all know, Harton first did the Bearcat in 327 Federal Magnum. In doing so, he engineered in some safeguards like throating the barrel so that by the time the bullet contacted the rifling the bullet was completely out of the cylinder thus keeping chamber pressure down. We all know Harton has stopped taking Ruger builds and that the Bearcat was one of his most popular conversions. He once told me he could keep busy just doing Bearcats. Well, I happen to be fortunate enough to have enough inside track to tell you that not only do Harton and Clements consult on any number of issues but discussed the Bearcat conversion in detail. Now there is no way you are going to give a man like David Clements an idea like this to run with and not see some improvements and innovations of his own. I can tell you for a fact Mr. Clements is all about efficiency and he will find the best way to build something. One innovation I can let of the bag right now is the use of the smaller firing pin bushing with the corresponding tight fitting pin and hole. This pretty much prevents any possibility of primer flow back and tying up the revolver resulting from poor tolerances. So what you are going to see is a "smarter built" Bearcat. The prices that I have seen will shock you as they will be astoundingly reasonably low priced conversions and in my opinion you better hurry up and get your bones in line. Here are some in progress pictures. Expect to see these in January 2018 along with pricing and complete pics on the Clements Custom Guns website. www.clementscustomguns.com/Some in progress pics. Note the specialized tooling and gauges.

Good thing I have a 327 headed this way sometime in the next year or so! =

Very cool. I have an idea what some of those parts and jigs are for, but it'd be neat to hear exactly what and how they're used.
Fermin, for a conversion like this would a standard grip, rounded grip, or shopkeeper be best/adequate for handling the recoil?
You could get yourself in trouble pretty quick with one of these conversions and his S&W sight installation (MUCH better looking than the factory adjustable sight guns).
IIRC David ended up with Bowen's extra length ERHs.

Just for giggles, if anybody decided he is going to get one of these, let me know.

I had a hard time getting a hold of the one I shot but my daughter does call me Mr. Potato fingers. Bart Skelton positively fell in love with Hartons personal Bearcat. So, it's not like a lightweight 357 or anything and it isn't going to hit you in the skull cap but if your hand isn't built right it might smack your finger pretty good depending. So I would say what works for you now is what would work for you here. My brother has a shopkeeper handle on his 38 special S6 so I would probably go that way for myself.

Don't you dare change that avatar. Everyone knows that gun only exists because you had the vision and dedication to bring it to life and that is as it should be!

I went with the adjustable sight model because of that. His plans should make that awful front sight on them less obnoxious...

Some in progress pics. Note the specialized tooling and gauges. I got to see all those parts and hear about the progress in person this past Saturday. I was at his place dropping off some work I want done and had a long chat with him. I'm fortunate enough to live close enough that it cost less in gas than it does to ship. That's going to be one super sweet 32 cal. David is one of the most humble and easy to talk to kind of guys you would ever meet.

Can't wait to see these evolve, the sky is the limit. My boys and I love anything Bearcat, this will be at the top of the wish list.

I've considered one of these, but about decided the 32 Magnum would be best for me. A 4.2" adjustable sight Stainless base gun lays in wait.
I've got plenty of 30,000 psi data, so gets pretty close.
Very cool project and hope to see it finished.

Neat project. Can you tell me who made the custom grips?

Neat project. Can you tell me who made the custom grips? I believe David said he has a local contact for custom stocks.

My first one will be in .327 with a long barrel but I agree about the .32 H&R being perhaps the best fit for this platform.
