I am in the same boat, first for 2017 and oh so impatiently waiting. I have been drooling since I first saw it... Then of course to add insult to injury, I have purposefully avoided this particular caliber (.44) for no reason other than to "save" money. So now I am equally impatiently awaiting one of Dave Mason's throating reamers, dies, brass, mold, star sizing die etc. This revolver is going to end up being a winter project. And, I am happy to have it. The GP is one of my favorite revolvers and I can't wait to have it in hand and start playing. Such a wonderful Company Ruger is. I am like a 12 year-old on Christmas Eve.

Yeah, I have my dealer's personal cell phone number... maybe I need a "burner" so my wife can't track my dealings, LOL. I just sent him a text message yesterday afternoon, and he responded with a picture. I said, "that's it! I'll buy one of those if you get it into your shop." He said he'd get it ordered today and not to worry about payment until it comes in. Great guy to deal with, and he's right here in town. The last message from him was at 9pm.

He made the jump from home garage FFL to store front shop and still has the best service and prices around. Having his personal cell? Yes, convenient, but-as you say-dangerous as well. LOL!

Distributor exclusive. It will probably end up a regular catalog item at some point. At least that is my guess. I really like this revolver a lot. It's a well balanced package. Here's a lousy picture of mine. You sure they are a distributor exclusive? How do you like it Max, I have one here in the shop and am wanting to take it home with me, wish somebody would come buy it and remove the temptation.

I sent my dealer a text to see if he had any trouble finding a GP-44 Spl to order for me and he replied back saying no problem and it's all ordered up." I hope that means it's on the way...

Holy mud! Got a text saying the gun already came in, so I went over there, went through the faux-instant background check, paid and got it home already. Dang that was fast! I sent my first text at 2pm on 1/3/17 and picked the gun up at 5:20 pm today, 1/5/17. Super fast! The gun looks very good, fit and finish, etc. I like the fingerless Hogue grip just fine... and the trigger is very smooth. Heavy but smooth, and timing is good. I can't wait to go shoot it! I don't think I've ever picked up a new Ruger DA revolver with a trigger this nice. Count me as Happy (so far!).

Every photo I've seen of these guns, shows the rear sight elevated rather high, suggesting a too-high front sight. Since Ruger is notorious for getting front sight heights wrong, I'm wondering if some of you can report on your findings when shooting 200 and 240 gr.bullets, and their approximate velocities. Hard to file off half a brass bead or night sight bead.

I apologize in advance for the fuzzy pictures. I just can't get still enough to take more focused pics... the lighting sucks right now, too, so only electric lights behind me. I'm really liking this gun. Some people say it's too heavy, but 34-36 ounces is right where I want a handgun that's capable of throwing a 250 Keith slug over 1,100 fps. If I wanted lighter still I could buy a S&W 329 with which to punish myself. The 44 Special GP100, 3" barrel, hi-viz green front sight, white outline adjustable rear sight, 5-shot cylinder (no scallops), Hogue fingerless grips. 178-prefix serial numbers True Keith SWC slugs, 250 grains, with brand new, custom "CALLSHOT 44 CFC SPL" Starline brass. I've heard from those in-the-know (Idahoans, apparently) that while this brass is fine for plinking at old tin cans and abandoned farm machinery, it's not so good in the hunting fields as the user most often misses once or twice in every 5-6 shots.... thus the name, CALLSHOT. Plenty of cylinder length for the Keith bullet. Maybe a LFN bullet will fit, too? I have some CP 255 WFN slugs to load up too and see no reason why those won't fit just fine as well. I can't wait to get out to the range and shoot this little fistful of big bore punch!
