Sounds like his reputation is as good as I've heard elsewhere. Man, this thread has yielded some beautiful revolvers!
Part of me wants to buy a BFR in .500 S&W just so I can have him make a .50 Alaskan revolver for me. Although, I'm not so sure how often I would shoot it!

Not very often I can assure you. My factory 45-70 with a Weaver 2x will shoot consistent 4" groups at 100 yards. I can't imagine needing more.

IMHO, we need to see more fine scrimshaw work. I may have to work on that!

He's working on a gun of mine right now....my first custom!! So far so great - easy to talk to on the phone, friendly, reasonable pricing, communicative enough. Had a little hangup - casting inclusions added some time, but that's out of his control. Shouldn't be long now - I need to start trimming brass....

Hey Whitworth, you still got that .50 Alaskan BFR? If so, do you still shoot it?

Hey Whitworth, you still got that .50 Alaskan BFR? If so, do you still shoot it? I sold it last year. Lack of use. It was a D-Max not a BFR and consequently a lot lighter. The BFR is actually a much better platform for the cartridge. That thing was a bear to shoot. I hunted with it one time and unfortunately I never connected with anything.

Just got word that my Ruger 45 Colt is done. It was more of a salvage/correction job. So far it has been a pleasure to do business with JRH.

According to a picture in Big Bore Revolvers, you did connect with something... granted, it was your own head. That seriously must've hurt, my sympathies on that one. You think that a BFR would be easier to control in .50 Alaskan?

It sounds really nice - I'm looking forward to the pics. From your other thread - is the plan still to have a #5 basepin latch on it? If so, that will be really cool - I HAD a Harton creation with the #5 latch and it was really nice. I haven't seen any other smiths do one other than Harton.
