jamesdjulia.com/373_shs/Elmer Keith's Number Five SAA…and Jim Corbett's Jeffrey tiger killer 450-400 isn't chopped liver, either. This is one of the few times in my life when I profoundly wish I was stupid rich! LOL! Michael B

Sad to see the collection broken up, a century of firearms history there. The pictures are fantastic, though. Some of the best detail views of Keith's guns.

There are some astonishing firearms in that collection.
Any guesses on how high #5 is going to go?

This is one of the few times in my life when I profoundly wish I was stupid rich! There's a LOT of stuff on that page that makes me wish I was stupid rich. The Class III stuff, the Luger and Mauser carbines, the cap and ball revolvers. Winchester motorcycles for Pete's sake! TWO of them!

I would not be surprised to see a Brian Pearce write up on the #5 after he purchases it....

Okay, here is the plan! We ALL shake the couch cushions, empty the pop can change jar and pool our money and it becomes a syndicate gun with shareholders! Where the gun resided each year is based on a drawing and the caretaker for the year pays the shipping to get it to his house! Hey, it worked for Sea Biscuit!

I just hope that all of Mr. Keiths guns go to people who will appreciate them, and take care of them like the historical pieces they are. I also hope they shoot them.

If I was rich enough to own them...I would definitely shoot them!

Where to start?? First, I need a warehouse full of money - the money to buy the guns I see listed in this auction that should be at my house and then the empty warehouse to have a place to keep them. I would pick one exceptionally large example of field artillery to park in my front yard, just to give the neighbors and Home Owners Association something to discuss. I would find my copy of Jim Corbett's book and read it once again; this time while holding his beloved rifle. I would surround myself with the tomes of Mr. Keith, as well as his guns, and reach out and touch the appropriate firearm every time I come across a mention of it. I would buy the Class III stuff in the hopes of enticing a visit from Mike Venturino, a gentleman whose writing I have admired for many years. Shooting and learning as much as I could would give me a goal in my retirement...but what a goal!!

I went to see the Elmer Keith museum about ten years ago when I was passing through Salmon Id. Sadly, by the time I walked across town from where I parked the truck, it was closed. A visit there has been on my bucket list ever since. Sad to see the collection broken up but I like this idea. Put me down for $100 towards the goal. Jeff

Better it's auctioned off by people who care and sold to people who care rather than it goes to relatives that don't care and it's lost.

Was discussing this with another. Wouldn't be surprised to see just #5 and the Corbett together bring in close to 7 figures.
