It boils down to individual preference. Some folks like plow handles, others prefer the Bisley. For me at least, the Bisley gives me much greater control when recoil becomes a factor. I belive my .50 Alaskan would be unshootable if it was sporting a plow handle -- it's almost unshootable with the Bisley.

Magnum I own one gun with Jacks modified Bisley. There are men here with lots more trigger time and lots more with heavy rounds downrange and at vermin (not Fermin) than me that can attest to it's recoil taming attributes.

I have another 500L project sitting in John Gallagher's shop that will be a near copy of Axe's Gallagher 500L - I am sure he will post up a pic soon. Any idea of the ETA on your JG 500?

Thankee, sir! It sure is a cute little thing. perfect packing size. that round-butt make a lot of difference? you like the sight picture on the vaquero as much as a blackhawk? seems like it would be a platform that is lighter but still just as accurate.

I haven't talked with John about an ETA. I dropped it off last fall and he mentioned then that it wouldn't be finished before spring (now). I have learned not to be too anxious. I may drop him a line soon just to touch base as I have other things to discuss with him.

BTW... CAS... love the case head medallion in your grips... I putz with making holsters ( when I have time... which is like never ) & had my buddy part off a bunch of case heads into "buttons" I don't remember if I did a 50 A.E. or not, but I like the look of it on the grips... may have to add a couple on my 50... ... I did pick up some "extra" nickel S&W medallions a couple years ago & added them to a pair of old Gil Scottie grips I put on an old S&W #1.5 ( about as far from a 50 as you can get )

The rounded butt actually makes more difference than I expected, it really feels nice. I think the Vaquero's sight picture is far inferior to the Blackhawk's, but that little sight insert that Dustin puts into the rear sight really makes all the difference. And of course, the excellent front sight as well - the sight picture on this little fivegun is just excellent.
