Hey guys, have any of you had Jack Huntington do a custom that featured a ribbed S & W barrel? If so I would love to see a picture of the gun. I am about ready to add Jack to my quest list and I am thinking of an OM SBH with brass and ivory converted to a tight 6 shot 45 with a model 25 barrel, CC frame and a Clements bisley hammer.
Thanks for the help.

Perfect John, that is exactly the type of picture I was hoping for. Beautiful gun,. want to swap it for a 414 that is about done getting CCed at Turnbulls?

You have any idea of where I might have put them?

I haven't ever considered using another barrel from a Smith or Colt as I have seen Bowen and others do.
Is there a benefit to a Smith barrel over custom barrel or is it mostly for aesthetics of the ovate/ribbed shape? Just curious. Thanks.

The biggest benefit of using a Smith ribbed barrel versus making one from scratch is cost, especially if you can find one in the caliber you already want. I have even found ribbed Smith barrels and bought them and sent them to Hamilton in the past for him to use on projects.

I don't know where you rat holed them Stan but I've sent enough parts your direction over the years that you ought to have a bin labeled "Parts from the NW" than you need a fork lift to pick up. ;D

Robb - is that 414 one that spent a little time here in Texas? My .41 bore fund is now being held back for a #5 OM that's in pieces at Alan's shop.
On my .500, I saved a little paid professional elbow grease by cutting off and polishing out the underlug myself.

That is the one guys! Mr. Stroh welded up the holes in the topstrap, added one of his front sights, remarked the frame and maybe one or two other little finishing touches.

If I got paid for looking for Smith barrels I'd be rich. You do have to know what you're looking for too.
I sent 6 to Hamilton to have re-bored a few months ago from everything from .25 to .510
Now if you want a challenge, find an 8" Anaconda barrel for a Redhawk! Been looking for years.
