Picked up the 10 inch FT 357 this morning.... Nice shooter grade gun... Kooz is sending me a rear sight for it... Letters as a BKH30 shipped in July 1959..

What is the twist rate in that pipe?

I am sure that it is the standard Ruger 357 twist... This barrel is a 6 groove... A very few of the later guns had 8 groove barrels...

What's the deal with the trigger?
I've seen that kind of set-up in other photos but never knew what it is.

What you see is called a trigger shoe... It will come off when I put the rear sight on it...

Maybe just fitting a 357/44 B&D cylinder will be enough for him on this one - and some beautiful grips.

The guys over on the Ruger Forum have a fire under the tar pot on this one.... I think it will have to stay as is.... Of course it needs some correct grips and that rear sight....

If you really dislike that trigger shoe I'd be glad to take it off your hands

I don't know if "dislike" is the appropriate term in this case... Triggers shoes are really okay... I just feel like one is inappropriate on this gun... If you could have seen the big fat Herrett grips that came on it you would understand that one of the previous owners needed a trigger shoe too! ;D We could say what we really think and cast doubts on anyone's manhood who would even consider a trigger shoe! Of course that would be flamed immediately by everyone who realizes that the wide trigger on a SBH is in essence a permanent trigger shoe...

Indeed it is, but when thinking about trigger shoes I am reminded of a Remington 700 rifle I once owned that came to me with one alread yattached, the pull gauge said it was somewhere around 4 lbs but that fat trigger made it feel closer to 2
