how about a custom 50 A.E. lever gun... converted my 44 Magnum Marlin... been 15 years or so ago... it's still a sledge hammer in tack hammer clothes had to glass bed the fore end as it kept shooting loose... thought it would be an easy convert since the bolt face didn't need any work, but the mag tube was too small, so it needed more work than we 1st though when coming up with the idea was reading one of the shooting rags about a guy who went to Africa with a Marlin Guide gun in 45-70 ( maybe the author posts here??? ) I have a factory ported stainless guide gun in 45-70 & duplicated some of the loads in the magazine... ended up shooting the factory sights off the gun... I added some Williams fiber optic sights but am looking at replacing with some heavier Brockmans sights... if I like those, I'll put a set on the 50 as well all my biggest bore Contender stuff is in handgun length barrels... 35 Remington, 375 Winchester ( this one is a beast ) & 45-70... both the 35 & 45 barrels are hunter ported barrels... that super 14 375 barrel is not ported, & that one is more punishing than either the 35 or 45 10" 44 Magnum & hot 45 Colt barrels are a whole nuther story

I just built up a 460 S&W Encore using a 24" Match Grade Machines barrel, its a real thumper, I haven't had a chance to try a lot of loads yet, but what I have fired shoots quite well. I went with the 460 S & W because I hunt in a shotgun zone, but rifles are now legal with any straight wall pistol cartridge up to 1.8". So far I have worked up a 250 gr Hornady FTX to 2400 fps, I don't know if I want to go any higher.
