Thanks for the kind words guys. This project is a really special one for me. And it goes well beyond the gun itself. The time spent with my dad and the memories we'll have from photos and video are priceless. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I have been re-reading all the pages, but can't find where you mentioned something about the grips. Did you stay with the stock grips, or go with something custom from JH on those? Please point me to the page number if you can. Originally I was going to have Jack Huntington cut a set of high figure walnuts. Ross used factory panels though so I decided to do the same. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Well, the grips look really nice. That's why I was wondering if you had someone make custom grips. Very nice, indeed.

That's the way I would feel and that gun would never leave my possession. This is the coolest thing I've ever seen. With that said, I still think that the Martin's should start a side gunsmith business.

Lee, absolutely fascinating! I've held off reading this for several days because I get astsy waiting, wow, I really would like to shoot that gun! The photo's & everything just make this an extra special gun. Please keep it away from Mike, Tank, Whitworth, Fermin & Glenn, that gun needs to come to Idaho.......& maybe shoot a bear? Dick Now why do I have to bunched in there? I'm harmless, I wouldn't permanantly borrow that gun, at least not more than once!

Does anyone cast or have a source for the 345 grain slug Ross used on the Buffalo? I know it's the old NEI #325.454 mold which they still cut. I don't plan on shooting lots of them so casting isn't an option. I'm just looking to buy a few for nostalgia sake. I believe they normally weigh 325 grains, but Ross poured with a bit more lead content and his dropped @ 345 grains. And no, I don't plan on recreating his original load. 24.0 of H110 puts it right around 40,000 PSI and 1,400 fps. Plenty stout for a six-shot gun. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

My dad and I will have the gun out next Friday. I'll be sure to post video of it in action. Currently I'm shooting 335 gr WLN's from Leadheads @ 1,300 fps. The gun will also see 360 gr WFN's down the road. Nothing nuclear, just good stiff 45 Colt offerings. I'll push some 40K PSI loads for kicks, but it'll mainly live on 335's and 360's at 30,000. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Thanks for running us through the build Lee, just read through the 19 pages, and think it looks better than the original. Guess that means you need to shoot the snott out of it..
