I bought a 325 from a guy on the Castboolits forum. I also bought a 624 Mtn Gun from the same guy. I must be a glutton. We will see what i get, but it may come to exactly that......

Books headed to Henry's today. You can arm wrestle for them. Can't go wrong with a Mountain gun!

Travis Strahan is over there in Georgia with Stroh. He has been known to built a few 1911s AND revolvers. He built record setting 1911s for Hershell Anderson and S&W revolvers for Jim Collins. If I was wanting a DA S&W that would shoot I just might contact him...

Ok, I got the call from my FFL that the problematic Smith 625PC is back from Smith for the 2nd time. This time the Performance Center had it quite a bit longer than last time. I shipped it to them on July 17. The worksheet says they replaced both the cylinder and the barrel AGAIN. I am going to try to pick it up today and do some measuring on it.
I am hopeful the thing was test fired and actually came back better this time. We will see....

Cleaned up and measured my "new" 625PC. I say new because Smith installed a new barrel, cylinder and almost all the internal parts. It was pretty dirty, I guess they wanted me to know they really did test fire this piece. Included was a test target shot by Art. It measured 2.82" shot with Fed AE ball and was fired at 25 yards. I sure hope I can shoot better than Art!!
Throats were .4525" and while the throat though a bit rough appeared to be clear of restriction, there is still .001" restriction in the center of the barrel where it is proudly marked "Performance Center".

I have been meaning to update this thread but have had scant opportunity to shoot much. The one time I did get out with the 625PC I made the mistake of failing to change the laminate grips off the thing. You see, they overhand the backstrap and were quite sharp to the hand. I shot it anyway, but was only able to fire 3 shots before having to put it down and try again. Twice I got those 3 shots inside of one inch and I might actually have a shooter. I had to pester my brother Henry to come by and fit those stocks to the frame a bit better as they were wearing hide off my hands in no time flat. Hopefully I will get out and shoot it some this weekend and be able to post a respectable group.
Im certainly no fan of the gold bead they put in the front sight. Mercifully it fell out! I didnt spend much time looking for the thing either!

The gold bead FELL OUT??? I've had 2 629's with gold bead front sights for 21 years, that have never digested anything other than full .44 Mag. loads. They are regularly holster carried and drawn, and the gold beads remain just fine. Sounds to me like this may be an omen, Fermin ... I hope not.

I think you need a dead chicken, a picture of the gun, some fire and some liquor.

IF I could come up with a hot creole voodoo witch woman I might be inclined to agree....
Yeah. Some gyrations and incantations. Couldn't hurt??
