Well, the 2nd version of the 625PC is hardly much better than the first. I couldnt even keep it on a pig on the hunter pistol range! This barrel is also bigger in the front than the rear..... UGH.... Paper comes next....

My experience with Smith is that if it did not come from the factory correct it will never be correct. Just find a good gunsmith and have them do the work you need.

In case anyone is interested, a bunch of us shot the 625PC while we were in Raton. In my opinion, it is worse than it was the first time. It is in the process of going back again. I believe it is considerably out of alignment. Hopefully we can get Smith to pick up the tab for shipping.

Wouldn't one of your pin gauges show the misalignment? Let us know what Smith does. Seems like they would replace it with another revolver if they can't correct it. Especially since you expect more than the average shooter and they should know it.
After several 1917's and convertable 45's I decided the 1911 is about the best platform for the ACP. Especially after experimenting with heavy boolits. Still doesn't make me not want one of those 625's though! Gotta save up or sell some stuff for a 41 caliber Reeder first though!

I have a 25-2 that took some tinkering with in the load department to find what it likes, but now that I've found it I couldn't be more pleased. With soft 200 gr LSWC over 5 grains of HP38 it stacks 'em one on top of another at 25 yards.
I also have a 45 Colt Mountain Gun that is just as accurate with about any load I put in it. It's a newer gun with the lock and MIM internals, stainless. That 25-2 is a great gun, but I'd really like a shorter barrel, round butted grip, narrower smooth trigger for better double action firing, and a different front sight setup. The idea occurred to me to just have the 45 Colt Mtn Gun cylinder cut for moon clips so that I can run 45 Auto in it, and send that 25-2 down the road, but after reading all of this I'm hesitant to mess with EITHER gun since they both shoot so well in their current configurations.
I will say, a 45 Auto Smith revolver that shoots well is a beautiful thing and results in my 1911s gathering dust....

1911s gathering dust? On the basis of a S&W Revolver shooting good? Whoa now! Those 45 ACP revolvers might be nice but there is a reason that they disappeared from Bullseye... Took a special match just for revolvers for them to make a comeback. I'm thinking that somebody may need to invest in a quality 1911..

I have 2 Les Baer 45 autos, I have that idea covered. I WANT an accurate 45 acp revolver!

You thinking 5 inch slab sided bull on a pre lock and perhaps pinned N frame? Start out blue and end up hard chrome?
