Axe, Lee bought this revolver from me a couple of weeks ago. I was the one who had commisioned the build off of an SRH in .454 that I bought at least ten years ago.

I find I can stand the SRHs recoil better than the equivalent load in a single action. Im not exactly sure why.
I thought I recognized that as the instrument used in the demise of the "bride of bulwinkle".

I have always loved the way that gun turned out. I am still thinking of sending my SRH to Jack as well. Surprised to see it go, but glad Lee picked it up. Whit, you must have some nice guns in the works to let that go.... especially considering "The Bride of Bullwinkle!" Hmmm, maybe that's your new MOI... get blood on the gun in the hunting fields, and then on to the next Quest Gun!

Hey, at least I use 'em! ;D Would have loved to have kept it, but there are other guns on the horizon and Lee really wanted it, so why not? I will still be able to fondle it and shoot it! It's proven its worth already to me......

Whit.....you can shoot it anytime you want. And with what you have on the horizon, I doubt you'll miss that SRH much. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I'd like to try that 500 with the wood boot grips that were on my 480 SRH. The first time I shot a deer with it at about 20 deg, I looked at my hand to see if it was bleeding after the shot rather than look at the deer and the direction it ran

The Hogue Tamers it wears now are the best grips I have tried on it. It had the factory grips with the laminate inserts, and the Hogue wrap around grips when it was a mear .454, and I went straight to the Tamers when it grew up. I had an SRH in .475 Linebaugh that would do a number on your hand as well, but the Tamers took care of most of that.

There is always Hamilton Bowen, then you already know that. He makes them in the big 'uns too.

Shoot? Me? Don't think I have even popped a single cap with it.. Did have a strong urge to go shoot a pig when I first got it.. Does that buy me anything? Maybe I'll shoot it Satuday?

There will be shooting here soon... I just got swamped with work, family, and a gaggle of new (to me) guns over a short period of time.

Shooting can be time consuming. That said, have you ever fired a 500 Linebaugh Axe? And are you close on the 500 Max? Can't wait to hear what you think about that one after dropping the hammer a few times. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"
