I just bought this Jack Hunington converted Super Redhawk from Whitworth and thought I'd post a photo or two (chambered in 500 Linebaugh): My first session produced this group @ 25 yards off the bench: The load was 29.5 grains of H110 with a 435 WFN. To say I'm impressed with Jack's work would be an understatement. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

How is the recoil (understanding that it's stout regardless) with that DA frame? I've wanted a bigger bore revolver, but generally prefer DA guns over SA.

Recoil is pretty stout. Keep in mind that the gun weighs just under 3-lbs. I never shot anything less than 500 grain bullets at right around 1,150 to 1,200 fps. The muzzle flip isn't bad, but being a DA revolver, it comes straight back. We did shoot some lighter loads (lighter bullets) through it early on, but it shoots the heavies so well that I stuck with them. Killed a cow moose with it last August.

Thanks. The biggest thing I shoot on a regular basis is a Redhawk 44 with 300@1200fps loads. The only problem I've had with recoil is the gun torquing to the left and whacking the snot out of that thumb joint at the web of my hand. It's better with a glove and taped thumb, but still hurts after 50 rounds.

As well as they shot, that gun won't see 435's anymore. Nothing but a steady diet of 525 WFNs from here on out. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

51 bore SRH?... Welcome to the Dark Side My Bowen gun came to me because the price got so right I couldn't stand it. A local buddy of Waterboys' has a 510 GNR on a Redhawk that would be mine if just had a little more money...

So that's where that beast ended up! Hmmm, seems like it's still "in the family" so to speak huh?!

Yup, Snyd, that is where it ended -- still available for me to shoot -- it had to make room for some new additions!
