Lee,
That looks nasty. I think I am finally starting to figure out why so many of us old guys like the .45 Colt.

Lee, That looks nasty. I think I am finally starting to figure out why so many of us old guys like the .45 Colt. Ya, I've since learned to use a lot of flex bandage tape under my glove. Problem solved. That said, I still have a lot of pain in that knuckle from one of my early 50 round sessions. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I've got good shooting gloves, but my .50 Alaskan will catch my knuckle and beat on it, especially off the bench. Hoping this one doesn't connect with my knuckle.

And I'd imagine that .500 Smith boxes would be perfect.

Man that's clean looking Whitworth. I have a longframe 357 Ruger. Toyed with making it a 445 SM but am really thinking hard about a 500. What does Mr. Hunington charge for a job like that?

You should be thinking a 445, 500, AND a 414! Maybe, just maybe a 375... ;D Don't forget that you need to maintain a 357 Max in the "set" too

A basic conversion on a Maximum is $1,800.00 but goes up when you start adding a Bisley grip frame, best grade finishing, etc.

I am not to the stage yet (thank God...I think) of being able to justify the expense...or maybe its just cuz I'm too cheap...for a fine piece of handgun art like that. I love it whit, but OH BOY!!! I need to hit the lotto!

A man with a good revolver (or ten!) needs no justification! ;D Haha! Customs are pricey, depending on how far you go with them.

Yeah, I suppose so! I am towards the beginning of shooting the big boomers, but now that I have 3 BFRs in the safe, I will play around with them for a couple years....then I probably will get the "custom gun" urge. Did it happen that way with you whit?

That is a lot of cash for a conversion. I know Huntington does good work but $1800 plus the initial cost of the revolver means you will be shooting a $2300 gun !. I can hear the grief I'll catch for mentioning this. Aside from a bullet diameter difference of .010" (and $1400.) what can this fine looking gun do that a 500 S&W BFR cant?

Did it happen that way with you whit? I admired, longed for, coveted, and fantasized about customs for a long time before I could afford one (still not sure I could afford them!). But then one day I decided that my .480 Ruger was on the small side and I went to the custom revolver dark side......still paying for it! ;D
