Gunsling454 you are a braggart and have little class, insulting Fermin was maybe the classiest thing you did to top your long day off....I've seen other posts recentlywhere you claim you own all types of customs and other posts where you appear to have no experience...You claimed to own a Seyfried gun and others...so put your money where your mouth is and show us some proof of your statements...surely you have at least one pic with proof...someone with your VAST knowledge of single actions surely can back up your claims with a photo...and since you like to edit things you post almost immediately I'll include a piece from an earlier claim you made before another edit... from Oct 17--- 5shooter, Yep, I've owned about 5 Linebaugh 500's. including the very first Bisley 500 John Linebaugh made and Ross Sefried wrote about in G&A way back when. ( That gun had several problems) I never did like the Bisley grip. The SBH frame with a non serrated trigger works much better for me. The standard Blackhawk works well also. Looking forward to shooting one of Huntington's guns Thanks COR

2 dogs, I dont know who you are but you have been poting here only a few months longer than me ! Just because I dont post on a daily basis (like some) does'nt make me "new here". I simply know what I like and dont like. Rubbing "Reeder guys" the wrong way is a fact of life here apparently. Comparing pics guns between the major smiths says it all Who am I? Nobody special, but I can spell high horse and posting.... AND I dont propose to tell Lee who he has to warn about what on his own website. What we have here boys is another GENUINE sixgun expert! Just like our last expert, good ole no bears yet! We apparently been wasting all our sixgunning time and have alot to learn, including how to spell...... Lets see now, what was that term Clint Smith coined sometime back..... Last time I checked Gary Reeder employs quite a few full time guys. I doubt there is any question as to who has the shop that puts out the most sixguns in the USA. I just dont understand how he has made it all this time without your support??? Insult me? Im afraid Im not all that tender. Many of the men on this site know me personally. Maybe we should be asking just who YOU are? Go ahead, Im waiting. Impress me.....

n8dawg16 if you sift through you've gotten good advice.I am sure on really big game the .500 JRH,and the 500 Linebaugh loaded heavy may out shine the .475L. But I'll say this if the .475L won't kill it, I want a tank. When you get into these really big bores I think it becomes a personal preference. All of these big bores can be loaded light medium and heavy. The best answer is probably to just get all three.

Its like saying old Sixshot knows nothing about handgunning big game! Wow Dude do yourself and everyone here a favor, go sit in the corner and be quiet. We get along here at Lee's site and we dont put up with trolls. Fermin will tell you I am no fan of Reeders style in guns and yet his guns shoot very well and he is very generous to the shooting community. Its not what you are saying but how you say it but calling out 2Dogs is just proving to all of us you are the fool some might have been suspecting you were...

When I acquired my Linebaugh .475 as a used gun, I called John Linebaugh to see if he could tell me when it was made. He directed me to the area in front of the trigger guard and when informed of the number stamped there, gave me the year of creation. I assume that the #1 on the gun pictured in the previous post represents the first of some series(.45, .475..500) or absolute first made by him. Assuming, of course, that it is a Linebaugh gun.
This thread, without the bickering, has been very informative. I have been going through a similar process for the last couple of years deciding whether to get a 5 shot .45 Colt or a .500 Linebaugh just for the WOW effect. I am leaning toward the .45 in a Bowen Nimrod.
BTW, I don't post here often, preferring to just lurk and look at the pictures.

Dunslinger arms in association with Feeder arms of Fagstaph Oregon announces the release of the new 521 Trisocolypse magnum The 5 shot innovation has been taken a step further. We now offer a 4 shot cylinder. Instead of the standard 500 S&W case necked down like others, we decided to neck it UP to .521. This allows for rapid expansion of the back of the case. This new cartridge will push an 800 grain bullet at 1995 fps. Developed in Chernobyl Ukraine Russia, this gun will be offered with not one but three radiation shields. One for the shooter and one for the shooters on either side of you when you touch the round off. The purchase will also include 25 shares in Dupont, the only powder recommended for the 521 Trisocolypse. Since 85% of the powder charge will burn 12 feet from the muzzle. The stock is sure to go up. Another innovation is the use of the Trisocolypse's tail as an intregal fixed rear site. Another appendage is used for the front site. Special 1" script lettering lets everyone on the range know exactly what you are shooting. How can you wanna be gun enthusiasts be taken seriously? You promote a gunsmith who regularly does things like etching dinosaur's on a handgun? LMFAO Lee, I do not tolerate dual rules on a web site. If a warning is issued to one user for an infraction, the moderator MUST issue the same warning to ALL users. Even the ones kissing his or her ass!! You have been warned. BA BYE Reeder fans

n8dawg16... Take note that the current version of the 475 uses a smaller rim than the original 45-70 based cartridge. This modification allowed us to have the 475 FA. You will see customs built for the 45-70 size rim. I'm sure those 475s can chamber either case. alamogunr... Good catch on that "1" in front on the trigger guard. This gun is the #1 gun of a set built for the Wyoming Centenial.

Now let's get this thread back on track. Some of these custom 500s and 475s represent the epitome of the modern gunmakers art.. The #5 of the 21st century you might say. Axe, I'm not a big fan of the aesthetics of the Bisley or #5 grip shape, but I love those panels! What are they? Mammoth tusk?
