At gun shows back in the early 90's, these silly looking guns got a lot of laughs as people walked from the tables showing them. Amazing that there are a few guys who claim to be gun enthusiasts defend something as ridiculous as a Reeder gun? I will say this for his guns. If I was a gangbanger with two new silver front teeth, I'd order me one of them thar marked to hell guns. Maybe even have him engrave the words "THIS IS MY BIG GUN" on the barrel with 1/2" tall script and gold leaf highlites. Glad to hear my posts get people talking, and laughing. By the way, Bigbores, you related to Mr Reeder?? I know one of you is Reeder himself!!! You sure are having a bad time have you called the dentist...

Do you mean have you CALLED the dentist, mis spelled or perhaps lack of school? Lack of school would partially explain the admiration of Reeder's guns. You simply dont know any better !! Glad I was instrumental in getting you to use proper english by editing your last post NJSBD

Your disturbance... of Gary reflect the low life that you are or could that be a lack of respectful manners that you are short on...towards anyone....

Getting back to 475 versus 500 here's 3 more of mine. one in 475linebaugh one in 500JRH and one in 500Maximum I just can't pick one and need more for testing maybe a Bowen built double is next. All made by someone other than Reeder, guess you'll have to go fish Dunslingler. P.S> I like BFRs also!

While I hate that we can't seem to respectfully agree to disagree about Reeder... It is okay. I think we should expand the thread to go 475-500-510. How about it? I've ended up with seven 475s (8 if the 480 is incuded), three .500 bore guns (50AE, 500WE, 500JRH), and five .510 bore guns. Off the cuff I'd say there is no doubt I like the 475 best!

Thanks to everyone who has commented on the topic. I'm still undecided on which one I'd like to have built. Kinda thinking the 475 might be the way to go since 45-70 brass is easy to get ahold of. But there is an allure to the 500. (I could have worse problems I've seen multiple pictures of Linebaugh's guns and just got a copy of Bowen's book and am already sketching the project gun out in my mind. I need to put my mits on a couple of Ruger's to see which barrel length I want. I'm leaning towards a 5.5 with barrel band, but really like the look of the non banded barrel's too to break from the norm. N8dawg16

Ahh now" Bigbore", was that nice. And, you did mean for SALE not for SELL, right? I am starting to see a trend here. Seems the Reeder guys are somewhat illiterate. Which explains their taste in GAWDY single actions. I'll sign off now since I seem to have angered some real weenies who think they know what a handgun is. Keep buying these $999. cartoon guns.

N8dawg16 I actually started reading this thread because I am "almost" in the same boat. I am looking at BFR's and tossing around either a 475 Linebaugh or a 500 JRH. I admit that I am leaning hard towards the 475. Not sure if it will be my last but my first true "custom" is going to be a Reeder. And octagon barrel on the SRH my wife gave me,caliber yet to be decided. BTW in my humble opinion a banded barrel is tough to beat.
