I never hear anything about it on here.. Has it been discuntined? KInda like to have one in a FA's gun. Taffin seems to like them. "DISCUNTINED" I HAVE WRITTEN AT LEAST SIX ARTICLES ON THE .44 MAGNUM IN THE LAST YEAR. TWO HAVE ALREADY APPEARED IN GUNS/AH(C0VER SHOTS) AND MORE WILL BE FORTHCOMING. IT IS STILL THE KING OF SIXGUNS. NO IT HAS NOT BEEN DISCONTINUED. IT IS STILL OFFERED BY S&W, FREEDOM ARMS, TAURUS, RUGER, DESERT EAGLE....PROBALY MORE .44 MAGNUMS ARE SOLD THEN ALL BIGGER BORES PUT TOGETHER.

On the other end of the scale even a cheesey German import from 30 years ago,can fill the bill for plinking. With sights perfectly regulated for mild Trailboss/250 gr lfp loads it just cuts the center out of what ever ya point it at. When there is no need for drama ,high horsepower and big explosions it is as fun to plink with as a .22.

I'm in negotiations with a guy with a Freedom Arms field grade 44 Mag with black Micarta grips who claims he bought it new in 1991. I didn't know FA started producing the 44 Mag that early? Anyway, I've never owned a FA before and am on the hunt for a deal of one in 44 Mag.
BTW, great pics guys. Makes me want one that much more.

I love the .44 Mag! This SBH usually goes with me on every range trip, I don't think I'll ever tire of shooting it. I still have a .44 Seville & a FA on my short list...along with a TLA. And I want to have a custom made one day, too.

Yep, the 44 mag is alive and kicken. Here is my custom 5 1/2" SS SBH. Like the saying goes, I never leave home without it. And here is one for the DA fans. S&W 8 3/8" nichol 29-2. Bill

I love 'em, got enough of 'em to outfit an army. Can't be beat in my opinion.

Wickerbill, that is a sweet looking SBH. What all was done to it, and who made the grips. They are very nice.

This would most likely be the last revolver i let go. It's a Clements tweaked 44mag Bisley.

Wickerbill, that is a sweet looking SBH. What all was done to it, and who made the grips. They are very nice. The grips are amboynia burl from CLC. The gun has had an action/trigger job and the trigger brakes at 2 1/2 lbs with no creep. The cylider throats were checked and found to be uniform. The forcing cone was recut at 11 degrees. It has a Bowen target rear sight and a front sight by Dave Clements with two gold bars. Bill

Snagged another 44 Magnum today! Dang! Now Axe will be pulling all the Dan Wessons into the abyss! I thought for a while he might overlook these and let rest of us have a few.

I am going to fit a Birds Head grip frame to a 4 5/8 SBH and add Eagle Gunfighter grip panels. In one of Rob L's pancake holsters in the cross draw position, it will be my PPP with the ability to press into service as a hunting gun if I get a chance at some feral piggies. With the lead ban in half of CA which includes Monterrey County which has a lot of wild hogs, Barnes DPX bullets are necessary. The 44 mag bullet is 225 gr as is the 45 Colt DPX bullet. Being slightly smaller in diameter the 44 mag bullet has a higher sectional density and it should penetrate better through the gristle plate which protects the vitals. I envy you guys who can just load a hardcast 250 gr WFN.
