Perhaps not considered quite so cool as some of "in vogue" cartridges in some eyes, the 44 mag is alive and well here... Lots of Ruger OM FT 44s, 3 Screw SBHs, and NM SBHs.. Even a pair of FA 44 magnums...

Here's my FA in 44magnum. Only down side Ive found is some bullets don't fit the tight chambers Freedom Arms uses.

I've got more .44Mag's than any other centerfire.

Have a happily worn SBH here, that was my first centerfire revolver. It was my first .44mag, and you could also say it was my first .44spec too ! Bought it in early '80's. Expect to have it when my time here is done. steve b

Old 3 screw SBH 44 makes a nice little 5.5 inch semi custom too!

Collectors like stuff like the original brass grip frame SBH 44..

Then the original FT 44 Mag warms every Ruger Single Action Nut's heart.. If I've grabbed the right picture this one is a January 1957 gun....

Those NM SBHs need love too! How about an XR3-Red grip framed consecutive serial number set of 44 Magnums!

Guess the SBH Bisley Hunter is about as hi tech as a single action will get... While the Hunter did a little to fog over the SBH's 44 magnum reputation with 41 and 45 cal Hunters marked Super Blackhawk the fact is this one should be a 44 mag.. I say "should be" because there is a 45 and a 41 in the set too..

And to close out my 44 Mag thoughts for this fine morning... The NM SBH 44 makes a nice little semi custom too... John Gallagher did this one up with the octagon barrel and all the inner tweaking that anyone owing a Gallagher NM single action Ruger would expect..

I'm finding 44 mag is the easy route to pick up on Sevilles and Abilenes. The supermags are highly coveted but plain old 44 mag is the way to go if one is learning about these great guns late in the game such as I am.
