See you guys are hard at answering the "First Gun of 2011" question. Guess you have closed out 2010 with almost two weeks remaining. Me? I've got 4473s to fill out on three Encore frames next week... And there is time for more!

A Chimney Rock El Dorado in 357 Maximum.....my last gun of 2010 will be my first project for 2011 (it's soon to become an 8.5" 414 SuperMag).

While a fan of the TC Contender/Encore I have never embraced the concept of switching frames on guns that I expect to shoot well.. That said I have acquired an Encore frame for each of my GNR 405 based wildcat barrels. I send the frames straight to Reeder. He does a wonderful action/trigger job.

I just pickked up what will most likely be my last one for 2010. As most of you guys know I am a true 41 phreak so I am tickled with todays pick up. It is one of the hard to find Marlin Cowboy guns with the octagon barrel in 41 Mag. The wood is much nicer than the pictures portraited and it looks NIB. I already have a call in to Ben Forkin about some possible modifications including the throughbolt, a crescent butt plate and Turnbull CCH of the butt plate, receiver, lever and forearm cap. Who knows, we might even see what Mick McPherson charges to lengthen it to take the 414 Supermag! ;D

ordered today, will receive in 2011. hard chrome, 1.5" guarantee les baer super tac 45. patience, my son, it's just 20 weeks...or so, a short time in the semi custom world, no doubt. soon as it gets here, wilson 70 series steel commander goes to dave severns for a good slide tightening/refit and a hard hat finish. gotta have a project in the mill, right?

Due to get the SS .44spec Vaquero today, maybe. Freezing rain last night, lots of accidents. Am still tense and tired from the hr drive, two hands the whole way. Wind and snow squalls the first half, then freezing rain. Gotta spread some salt on my way out later. steve b

An old IHMSA shooter read my article, wrote me, and offered to sell his El Dorado. I had a check in the mail the next day.

A good Christmas present for you Lee.

It IS a very good write up. After your earlier posts on them I've read it several times. I knew John Linebaugh had built on them and saw some of his. You don't see them much around here.
I am still learning how to search on the internet. I reference my library more often.

So now I am looking for info on the EL Dorados. Not ready for the test yet, so I'm going now to reread your research article...........
