Axe, I have to agree with you on switching frames and barrels. When I get one shooting like I like it, I just have a slight moral objection to taking it off and expecting it to do the same the next time I hook the two together. I know its supposed to work and probably does fine but I just don't like to do it. Im the same way with the contenders. Luckily, I only have one barrel for an encore at this time so that makes it easy I think I picked up my last one for 2010 this past week. Gary from here on the forum had a really nice little Browning BL22 that I picked up for Gabriel. I remember shooting my fathers a lot growing up and so I figured it would be a good one to pick up for the little guy. Pretty gun, has a small amount of engraving on the reciever, I think he will like it. For 2011, like I've told a few of you, I've gotten a little bored with converting things and buying things of late. I think I'm going to really just try and shoot what I have and get better with them. Now, if some screaming deal comes by, I probably will have to snatch it up or call one of you to take it

Don't they do it all the time?? Especially when you decide you don't need anything else?

Well, my last gun for 2010 just changed thanks to Gun Broker. I was lucky enough to snag a gun that blends my love for old model flat tops with my love for real ivory. The two came together in a 5 digit 6 1/2" flat top that wears ivories that are numbered inside to match the gun serial number. I hope this is standard on factory ivories since this is what the gun was sold as. Supposedly it is unfired but there is a faint cylinder line. Unfortunately there is no box but I am still excited to say the least.
While I don't have the gun yet so no lousy pictures, it cana be seen by looking at GB auction # 205752601. Hot dog is all I can say!

Well since it combines my two favorite things about Rugers, I am excited BUT I have a sneaking suspicion the seller may have been mistaken about the panels being factory based on some input from true collector types but that is okay. I have contacted the seller to see if there is any paperwork and if he truly is the original owner but there are still coming here.

Right you are......Ruger didn't serial number grips and usually factory records didn't show what a gun was shipped with. One could luck out by having an original retail sales slip showing the optional $16 factory ivory grips. Nice find!! Dennis.

This one will stay in one piece as a package. I will contact Ruger and see what I can find out but I think it will go good with the 7 1/2" that Mr. Harton just sent back after restoring the front sight. I think I have been listening to Axe too much. The idea of a "set" of OM 44 flat tops with the Stroh 5 1/2", this 6 1/2" and the 7 1/2" might be as close to a set as I can hold.

Talo .44 SPL Stainless flattop. Couldn't afford it, but couldn't afford not to. The Montado hammer off my .480 and a set of C. Schultz Micarta.
