I received the package for which I had been waiting - containing my .44 Special conversion with a new set of Roy's Custom Grips, in fancy walnut. Am I delighted? See for yourself: As handsome as they look, they feel even better. Not an edge to be felt. The "neck" area, around which the thumb and middle finger make a circle, is slender, just right for balance and comfort. Can't wait to shoot it. -- Br.

Well done! Please tell me (us) that you sent some metal to get that fit and that it wasn't some incidental "off the rack" that happened to match up...
And did I miss the details about the conversion?

Thanks, it's a keeper.
The revolver is a Clements conversion on an FHP M27. It ended up in Amarillo, and I picked it up from JLF. Had to wait until I moved out of CA to transfer it, so it lived in the back of Jack's safe for "a while". It's a really neat gun - Mr. Clements did an outstanding job - and the work is so clean that you couldn't tell that it isn't a factory original except for the double caliber markings on either side of the barrel. Which, by the way, feels GREAT in the 5" length with the slender M27 contour.
The grips were crafted by Mr. Fishpaw in short order. I sent the revolver to him in April or May, and got it back last week. His level of skill is amazing, and his understanding of how to make a grip that feels great is beyond my meager cerebral capacity. This is my first set of his grips to have been fitted to one of my guns - I have two other sets purchased second hand - and I couldn't be happier. I don't know how he does it, but I'm glad he does!

brionic, Wow those are fantastic and the satin finish with gloss finish of the gun makes a real nice contrast. If you had someone store it for you a while do you need someone to shoot it for you a while? I can do that if you need me to.

Very nice grips. Yes, he and Keith Brown are the supreme makers for S&W's without question. I picked up an unused blued 44 Special barrel with the nice taper a bit ago. I am now on the hunt for a M28...

I've got a 657 Smith that needs re-gripped. May go that route after seeing those. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Nice, very nice.

I thought I read where Roy Fishpaw is semi retired and not taking orders from new customers. I've been reading about his work for 30+ years but have never seen a set of his grips in person, and have never ordered any. I wish I had.
