Sweet, Sir!
What a great, timeless gift for a 14-year old!
The provenance is priceless!

If it gets any better than that I would have to see it. Proper elegance.

My dad was not a gun guy, but when I was 12 or so he took a 6” stainless Security Six as partial payment for what he owed my father (never did get the rest so he paid a dear premium for the gun) but it was the handgun that I cut my teeth in. Army tank tough, trigger wasn’t bad, direct the sight to your target and it would do it job. It’s still out at dads, every once in awhile we take it out for old times sake. I certainly prefer Smiths but there is a soft spot in my heart for that gun.
If it looked this this fine piece with those amazing grips on it I might spend the next 20 years trying to wear it out.

I personally feel that the Ruger Security/Service/Speed six series is the EPITOME of DA revolvers.
THIS is an exquisite example of an exemplary design.

Overall, I really like it. I've got a couple of the Aussie police trade-in Service Sixes left and the roughest one is really begging for this treatment.
Only difference I think I will do is to forego the scallop and lessen the transition between the back strap and the frame hump with the grips, sort of like the semi bisley grips another member has shown on his Redhawk. Looking at this one and a few others posted on here, I might just know to whom it'll be sent for some nice Koa grips! 😉

I wish ruger still made these, or at least the same frame size . I carry a 2 ¹/² inch GP most days but it's dang bulky for a 6 shot 357.

Very nice! Looks like it would be satisfying to own, shoot and carry.

Always something special about the first revolver you start out with.

You're a multifaceted guy, Zane. Between knives, grips, and now gunsmithing you've become a force to be reckoned with in "our world" of guns and all things outdoor related. On top of all that, a true son of Texas. Well done.

Zane would cost Ruger money, not unlike us.

Thanks for the kind words y’all. Was able to do little load testing for the Security six. using some of Brian Pearce’s load data from his 357 pet loads article. and Sixshot’s powder coated 175 grain hollow points, I settled on a 2400 load that should put me in the 1300fps range. These were shot at 27 yards, leaning over the hood of my truck. the orange rectangles are 1”x 1 1/2”.

Looks like you’ve got a good shootin’ load for deer and pigs there.
