Well folks, we are fine at my house. No power, cell service or internet since Friday, with no knowledge about when it will be restored. I have to drive about 4 miles to get a signal.
All the main roads and most of the side roads are damaged or gone. The town of Chimney Rock is gone. It’s about 5-6 miles west of my house. I’m about a mile from the lake of Lake Lure that has a lot of damage.
Several miles of road from the 2 main towns, (Asheville and Hendersonville) is gone or severely damaged. No easy way into or out of Lake Lure.
But as I’ve said often, “A country boy can survive!”
Many thanks to all who have expressed concern for us.
WNC has a confirmed death toll of 57 so far with more deaths expected.
Lots and lots of people are totally cut off from everything.
