Not to try to dampen the OP's enthusiasm for the SAA in question, and I hope it's a perfectly fit and finished SAA, but to his notion that CZ has "fixed" all the things wrong with Colt in recent years, I offer these pictures of a brand new CZ era 1911 I purchased at my local gun store last year. Beautifully finished on the outside, I took it home and tore it down to do an initial cleaning of all the factory oil/grease, when I noticed my patches felt really rough going through the bore. Examined the bore in good light to find ... If that's CZ-level quality control, I don't want any. Thankfully, the gun store took the gun back and said they'd return it to their distributor. I've never seen anything that atrocious in a factory new firearm that didn't come out of the Khyber Pass! Inspect carefully - and let us know those measurements when you make them, I'm interested! DeWayne In my observation, CZ's acquisition has changed nothing about Colt's products, there have always been lemons, and in all likelihood, always will be. As a good friend says in regards to QC slips from Colt, "That's the Union mark of excellence" All that to say, I am an unapologetic Colt fan, and have yet to see any MFG put out a perfect product every time...

Expect the throats to be larger than desired.
However, I shoot my 2d generation Colt SAA as well as I shoot its Uberti "twin" with factory lead bullets and far better than I shoot a Ruger Vaquero "twin".
Buy it. Send it to Alan Harton for regulation if need be and an action/trigger job while he has it!

The dimensions were a disaster!!!
I only brought pin gauges from .451-.455". Those all went thru with lots of slack.
With my Caliper, throats measured .457". Considering the flats of the Caliper, I'd say throats were .459".
Chambers were no better. With the Caliper, they measured .487" which means probably .489".
Barrel gap was .004" on the left side and I stopped measuring at .007" on the right side.
This will be a pass for me...
I'll buy quality guns, but won't pay for a name. Colts DAs have been top of the line Post CZ. Apparently the Autos and SAs have not followed suit.

There are new in-the-box USFA's for sale on GB and GI. They are asking serious money for them. But, I have read that their cylinders were made to proper specification. Lot's of posts about them on this forum and are locatable using the search function.
I confess to being an average shot-on a good day. My 2d generation Colt will shoot better than I can hold-even with its oversized throats and chambers.

I'm not too concerned about groups. But, I'm not forking over $1800 for something built to such extremely poor specs.
I've bought 5 CZ-Colt DA that are top quality. Fit, finish and dimensions are impeccable.
I'd love to own a really nice Colt SAA to go with my New Frontiers. But, I'm not paying for junk just because it has "Colt" engraved on the side...

CZ needs to bring all of Colt's quality up to the high standards they have for the CZ labeled stuff. And bring back the Dan Wesson revolver. Especially the Supermag

It's weird that Colt has been putting out a low quality SAA for decades, but there's zero incentive for them to improve. If they cared there's no way they couldn't make in spec cylinders. In my mind everyone else makes the real SAA like you'd have bought 100 yers ago, in terms of quality anyway. Colts are a bad copy of their old selves, basically counterfeits of what they claim to be selling.

In a rare move, I bought a Uberti Drifter when they came out for $460. It's a Replica Peacemaker with an Octagon Barrel. Absolutely the finest SAA I've ever seen. I added a 45 ACP Cylinder and very happy with the gun...
