So, I possibly have the opportunity to buy one of these. They seem as rare as Hen's Teeth, so maybe a good grab?
I'm in Louisiana, so we have a Tax Free Weekend for Sportsmen. To make matters worse, tax free and a six month layaway is possible.
The gun looks extraordinary. Beautiful fit and finish. I didn't have my measuring tools with me, but will bring with me tomorrow.
I rarely consider a gun with fixed sights. But, this is a Colt Peacemaker.
Lockup is FA Tight. CZ is synonymous with quality. I'll measure barrel gap, throats and chambers tomorrow.
Seems a good addition. Probably every real revolver affectionado should own one?
Looking for input on this. I've heard rumor they make very few a year.
This is a 4 3/4". Again, not my favorite. But, perfectly acceptable for they type gun it is...

I seen one to, exactly the same as you described, fit, and finish looked perfect, better snag it before someone else does, it probably won't be there very long

DYING TO KNOW ABOUT THE THROATS.
I HAVE A NICKELED, FACTORY IVORY STOCKED, COLT SAA IN 45 COLT/45 ACP THAT EDDIE JANIS WORKED ON INCLUDING ADDING A PROPERLY CHAMBERED AND THROATED 45 COLT CYLINDER. WHEN YOU GET A GOOD COLT SAA IN HAND YOU CAN FEEL THE HISTORY.

I would be in trouble with a 6 month layaway! How many can I have going at one time?

It's one of those situation where it looks larger than it is due to perfect parallel alignment between the barrel stub and cylinder face. I'll know tomorrow...

Over on the 1911 Firearms Addicts forum, the consensus seems to be that CZ really hasn't done much with or for Colt yet. My understanding is that CZ has pretty much allowed Colt to continue what they were doing before their purchase. Seems some folks have gotten some less-than-desireable 1911s recently. I hope y'all are getting properly built SAAs.

Encore64, I am from NW Louisiana but live just across the state line in Arkansas. Are you in that part of the state?

I avoided Colt for 40 Years due to extremely poor quality. But, have bought 5 Double Actions since CZ took the helm. Time will tell about the SAAs...

What are they asking for it?

What are they asking for it? Dangerously close to MSRP. At least I can (hopefully) avoid tax if I decide to buy it. I completely agree it's part of history. But, it's a good chunk of money too. If the quality of the SAA has improved as Colt's DA have, I might have a problem...

Stop considering and call them with your card. Firstly, they are really well built guns IME, built after 2012ish will have a removable cyl bushing again. 45 throats will be big, plan on that, but if its close, like within 500 of MSRP, it is a steal right now. The last few NIB ones I have sold at auction all went North of 25, several well over 3k with fees and taxes etc...

WHEN YOU GET A GOOD COLT SAA IN HAND YOU CAN FEEL THE HISTORY. My guess is throats are big! I just bought a new 2024 SAA same configuration as above. Fit and finish is ok, not great but ok. CCH looks a bit funny lots of small color patterns looks like granite rather than CCH. Trigger guard has absolutely no bevels and back strap has no radius and is also flat, backstrap ears are however nice. Gun is NOT over polished. SN is laser engraved and not die stamped I hate the laser engraving. throats on my gun are huge .457-.458 now I don’t have pin gauges but they are BIG with a dial caliper! Seems to be the norm for colt with the single action. Lock up is tight, timing is good. Springs are heavy heavy heavy again typical colt. Action is rough and needs a stoning. End shake is minimal, cyl gap is tight haven’t measured but the hold to the light test shows it’s close. Forcing cone looks nice. Sights are nicely regulated and shoot POA. Even with the big throats it turned in a decent group with a 250gr RNFP over 40gr 3f. I’d say 3-4 inches @ 25 yards. That was from a bench non supported. I also paid msrp. Seems that some very new 24 production guns are showing up. Mine was made on June 20th. I have pics but don’t know how to post them……hope this helps.
