The last trip was mostly grass mowing. I'll be doing that again. But more of the gang coming up and progress towards finishing new building, specifically the room I'll share with 3 other senior members. The SNORING ROOM. My poor Forester is packed to the gills, as hauling foam mattresses , totes that fit under the bunk bed, folding table, etc.. The next trip will have me assembling the bed and giving a BIG sigh, done. But posted in HUNTING forum as we saw record numbers of deer, turkey and had a bear around camp om that last trip, he left a muddy paw swipe across a window. Should soon here elk bugling. Maybe not quite yet. The carried Ruger LCR will get swapped out for the short barreled BSBH 480 when there. Stay safe folks.

Yep. I have the elk fever too. I visited our high country elk camp on Tuesday. Scouted out the standing dead timber for the 24 hr firepit. I can't trim the weeds and brush too soon or somebody else will realize that it's a dandy camp spot.

Nothing like a bear paw print on the window to make you want to up the lead horsepower.

Nothing like the anticipation of an upcoming hunt, it never gets old. Spent many years hunting with my folks & my brothers, now my sons & grandsons. Got 3 great grandsons already here, I can only hope.

It's interesting how many of us took our kids hunting when they were growing up. Now that they are grown, they take us hunting with them. Must be evolutionary.

Am home. Tired. Lots of Deere time, mowing. Rough ground, not manicured lawn stuff. Other guys made a lot of progress on new camp building. Lots of deer and turkey seen. No sign of the bear this time. A vey thick Timber rattler, very log set of rattles., seen while mowing. Hit was 200yds from camp yard and going away. He got a pass. You guys with kids/grand kids, sigh. Am happy for you, a bit jealous maybe, too.

This is my oldest grandson, he is one year away from retiring from the USMC. He has served all over the world & hunted in many places, some of those places he's been hunted. Right now he's stationed in Washington state & he just got an early depredation tag for elk. This is for military personnel only & because of all of the heavy cover he was able to harvest a nice cow the first morning of the hunt. One year him & 3 of his Marine buddies got to go to Texas & hunt with Rey Garza, one of his best hunts ever & a lifetime goal to hunt with friends. As always he had his good luck charm, his oldest daughter, my oldest grandchild with him, she has been in on several of his hunts in Washington & also in North Carolina for deer & turkeys. Dick

That terrain looks like what I’ll be hunting for elk in this year with a handgun. It might behoove me to take my XP, just in case. Hoping for a shot with the 414sm or FA555 500jrh.

That's fantastic that he can share the scenery and hunting with his children, those are some good memories there

Dick IN THE PAST 12-13 YEARS 2 OF MY MOST FAVORITE EVENTS HAVE BEEN MY 50th HIGH SCHOOL REUNION AND A FEW YEARS BACK WHEN (BACK THEN) GUNNERY SERGEANT CODY ROMERILL (SIXSHOT's GRANDSON) AND 2 GUNNY BUDDIES CAME TO MY HIGHPOINT RANCH FOR A FEW DAYS AND MOSTLY HUNTED HOGS, IIRC THEY GOT 18 AND AN AOUDAD EWE. CODY HAS SINCE MADE MASTER SERGEANT. FINE YOUNG MEN.
