Note to self!!!…..and anyone needing to drain fuel from a tank. Transfer fuel from old tank before changing and dropping old tank. I dropped the old tank on my 85 Toyota ranch truck and then realized it’s tough to suction fuel with 4 big holes in the tank where the pump, fill, breather, and gauge units go. Plus trying to pour it out with those holes ain’t easy either. 10 or so gallons later I got it done, only spilled half a gallon or so. Also replaced driveshaft bearing, the old girl is ready for another few years of bouncing down ranch roads, and hauling pigs. Also put a fourth coat of TruOil on the XP stock.

Mounted a new Skinner rear sight on my Marlin 1894 in 45colt. Hopefully I have to correct front sight height in the Redfield Sourdough flavor. I’ll shoot for regulation a this coming weekend.

Before and after pics of a Blackhawk cylinder. I put the cylinder on my lathe and started with 100 grit sandpaper, then worked my way up to 400. I wrapped the sandpaper around a flat surface to keep the surface consistent and from burning my fingers. Worked great. Took me about an hour. **edit** well after posting these pics and seeing them larger than on my phone, I see there are a few micro scratches that I still need to polish out. Cannot see them with the naked eye. Crazy.

I put a starlink on my friend's house and connected it to their home mesh WiFi system. Sketchy as _______ on that cedar shingle roof. Had to ditch the boots on go with just socks to get a better grip. But it's done now and the speeds are pretty good. It should improve once a little time has passed.

Messed around with front sight heights for my Marlin 1894 lever in 45colt after installing a Skinner peep sight. Shot 2 rds from my M97 45colt from 60yds off hand and put them exactly where I’d want them on a game animal. But, there wasn’t any hair/fur causing stress or anxiety or target panic, lol 😉 Nonetheless, I hit my mark!!

PREPPED 3 S&W MODEL 53 22 JET REVOLVERS FOR BARREL REMOVAL (REMOVED THE CYLINDERS AND BARREL PINS). BOUGHT A K FRAME WRENCH FROM BROWNELL'S. HOPING I CAN GET WITH MY RETIRED GUNSMITH BUDDY ON THURSDAY TO CLAMP THE BARRELS DOWN AND THEN USING THE FRAME WRENCH BREAK THE BARRELS FREE AND REMOVE THEM. GONNA SEND THOSE 3 BARRELS + 2 MORE JET BARRELS TO JACK HUNTINGTON FOR HIS BARREL MODS THAT DIMINSH AND/OR ELIMINATE SET BACK AND LOCK UP ISSUES WITH BOTTLENECK CARTRIDGES IN REVOLVERS.
JUST NOTICED THAT I AM NOW A "DEVASTATOR"

Speaking of pulled pork,…..I took a buddy out who has spent the last few years stuck on a boat doing geology stuff for a petro company. He retired earlier this year and wanted to share gunpowder, rum, and time together. So we went out and spent two days looking for piggies, found 13. Removed two, perfect eating size porkers. One day time and one dark, IR night vision is so nice when you’ve got good gear and can back it up with good thermal. 6.8spc at 72 yards did the deal on the second, the same 6.8 at 60 did the deal on the first.
Shooting them at distance at night is easy, walking in close is the thrill.

Painted two interior walls in the barn where I store my hay. The wife decided the plain strand board was too tacky looking so taped stuff off, bought another gallon of the same paint we just had used on our house trim and started making a mess. In between coats I worked on the final fitting of a set of French walnut grips on a clients bisley that Hamilton sent me. You try and not touch the metal but it IS a lot less stressful to get the final fitting when the grip frame is decked, stripped and going to be refinished back a Bowens shop. You just try to not cause any need for remedial metal work on their end!

That last Brookie is pretty. What weight is your set up?? I picked up an 8 recently to try some saltwater fishing. Otherwise my normal Rocky Mountain rig is a 4.
