Wow, that case-hardened hammer would look gorgeous in my OM blue SBH. I’m torn between encouraging Mr. Wells to start producing them and realizing that might mean my grip frame he’s working on might be even longer getting to me! 😬🤯 What I should do is actually give you a call, RDW…

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY FELLAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fixin to go hang with the fam and watch the fireworks. Woke up in a cold sweat last night or early this morning. Visions of Single six Conventional plow handle Hammers with a wide spur just killin me. So , well You Know me, here we go. Prototyped and 30 rounds fired out of my 38 -44 S6 5 TEST shooter with stainless XR3 Red. And i wanted to introduce you to the new Super Blackhawk Mini for the single six, seven, eight, nine, ten or who the hell knows how many more rounds we will be able to cram into one of these little Ruger metalic chunks of loveness huh? Hahahaha. Couple of sneek peeks of what im thinkin. Not perfected but a good base. Enloy. Coming soon to a sixgun near you. And Yes i filled that dam window gap between the grip frame ears. hahaha. Cute little booger isnt it? Happy 4th fellas. R

Well that’s a heck of a tease…..I’ll bet that fat back hammer spur feels perfect on a Single Six Bisley configuration.

That's a very nicely designed hammer, should never have problems finding it with your thumb in a hurry. And enough meat on it for a good firm purchase with the thumb. You have really got the brain cooking for my next build. At this rate I'm never going to get my jeep finished.

When Ronnie put that mini-sbh hammer for the single six offer out in '21 I jumped on to get one. I have a stainless single six with a birdshead grip patiently waiting. Now that I've seen the prototype, the wait is gonna be so worth it. Also have a blued single six that could get jealous, so I may have to order a second to keep peace in the family.

I saw a few pics and a video by KGB about the Shootists Bisley single seven. It's hard to tell from the photos and video. Are the hammer and trigger on those from Ronnie? Are they blackened like those from power custom or do they have some other kind of treatment? I'm curious where they came from because I like the look and would love to get a set of hammer and trigger like that.

I just made the stainless Blanks bud. They are next and so are you. Dont worry pard, ill send you one of each. This little feller is Bitchin. I just had to mount one on my favorite 32 single six with the lightning and it works perfectly. I didnt even wait to blue the darn thing. Hahaha. Do that later. Think we are going to stick with the .490 wide spur and 10 degree pitch. it just feels perfect. Here some pics Gunny. Whata ya Think man? Hard to get clearance on the lightning because of the hump but it worked just right. Really diggin on this one man. well me and ole Ferdawgie are battining down the hatches this eve and tmrw. Some Ahole Named Beryl is threatnin to pound the heck out of us and im not caring for that at all. but we live on the coast so go figure huh? I dont know where they come up with the names for these darn hurricanes but i am a fan of naming them after women. Hahaha. If there is ever a KARMEN, Its going to be a Mean one. R PS: For Yall that know her, dont tell her i said that. LOL

I think that is really the perfect hammer. It just fits everything perfect. I like it following the contour of the grip frame ears and where the spur flows in the arc of travel. It never looks to be in the way but is always right there easy to find. I liked the lines following the recoil shield of the previous version also I dig the sculpted look it has. Kind of an art deco look and feel of the 20s and 30s.

Here’s a little comparison of a standard single six and a fat back Bisley.

Had a talk with Ronnie and he suggested I look at the pictures he’d just posted of that Lightning gripped 32 Single Six. Admittedly, I was already resolved that the prototype was near perfect in its presentation in previous posts. And if I may, a personal note here; I’m one of those few who fancy a greater appreciation for the SBH Hammer over the Bisley Spurred Hammer. Heresy to some, I’m sure.
Then he asked, “What do you think?” Well, me being just a noob regarding the details in appreciating a fine, true custom six-gun, I lamely tried to respond. And in the course of our meandering conversation, I don’t think I properly or coherently expressed to him my opinion. I mean I was already in awe of the graceful dimensional balance he’d achieved in the hammer’s spur. But the fine radial detail of the hammer’s cocking serrations just blew me away. Yea folks, my opinion, it is a work of art. And knowing Ronnie, its more than the epitome of mechanical engineering.
He was also apologetic about how long it’s taken to get to the point where he was now able to produce these mini SBH hammers. So, I made sure to tell him that in this endeavor, patience for me, was easy and a good thing. So, I’d also like to throw in a quote I got long ago from who knows where that I think applies……. “One should never attempt to expedite the artist in his labors. For only in his own time and imagination can he ultimately achieve that thing of beauty.”
