Went on a Ground Squirrel safari today & took 2 very nice squirrel elimanaters. A special Single Seven with a belt mountain base pin & a special front sight by 2dogs. The other gun was my Buckeye 32/20 with a 1X4 scope on top, this one shouldn't be legal, it just doesn't miss. I took 8 squirrels with it yesterday but today it stayed quiet, just not fair. I let the S7 do all the talking. I got 38 squirrels yesterday & 31 today & there were still plenty when I left but I was out of 32 magnum ammo which is all I shoot in the S7. I load a 100 gr. HP & a stiff charge of WST, I never shoot 327's in this gun. The Buckeye 32/20 gets a 118 gr HP & 13.0 grs of H110, this is my load, if you borrow it, work up as always. You can see several live squirrels in the one photo, they were everywhere! Dick

Ahh, another day in the miserable life of pesky ground squirrels when sixshot is on the hunt! I miss doing a ground squirrel safari! Looks like you are making them wish you didn't have them .32 cal guns!

That 32 sure makes a mess of them. We don't have ground squirrels here, but my 9-1/2" single six is a ground hog slayer.

Like the impromptu camo job on the gloves ! Gotta be some fat happy buzzards that survive by following a certain Jeep with Idaho plates. Channeled my inner SIXSHOT last weekend and got a chipmunk with the LCR 38. Was kinda proud. Seems like some kinda SIXSHOT handgun varmint killer T-shirt should be available.

I think there are seven live ones in that one photo if you look close, with probably that many more 10 yds to the right of them in the grass. My friend Larry that owns the property stopped by for a minute headed out to another farm, said they were just as bad there. I need to load today!!

Oh geez Dick, what a boring shooting life Dick! 🤦♂️. Tell us the distances please. Thats freakin awesome, good shooting! I’m very jealous that I don’t have the small vermin hunting/shot opportunities that my western 6-sixgun brothers have….small vermin game are sure fun!

Most of the squirrel shooting is anywhere from 10 yds out to as far as you want to shoot, mostly 30-40 yds for us six gunners, beyond that for the rifle guys. What you have to remember with these squirrels is that you almost never see a whole squirrel, they are masters at hiding. Even the close shots are difficult because you are shooting at a target the size of a quarter many times. And then once in a while one of them just stands up & says "shoot me" Its hunting & you take what you get. Twice yesterday I was lined up for a double but they don't stay put very long & I never broke the shot in time. Another time it would have been an easy double but they were right up against a grain bin, couldn't do it. Maybe tomorrow. Right now we're headed out to make head stones for some pesky Muskrats, there are a bunch of them Tearing up a guys canal. Dick

gotta love a target rich environment. no matter rodents or bigger critters. good luck on the rats, they are bigger so you should be able to shoot them further and really stretch out the 32's.

Looks like you brought just enough gun. Good work! That was all I had with me. I actually was on a Idaho black bear hunt and stopped over to visit Dick... It was after that squirrel hunt, with Stevie using his 32, that I caught the 32 bug.. I had a pocket full of 45 Colt handloads and after I shot them I looked over at Steve and he still had plenty of his 32 ammo to keep going.... Wound up with two S&W`s, one Dan Wesson and one Ruger GP-100 in 32 mag or 327.... Thank`s Steve

James, I just happened to take Steve (Callshot) with me today & he had his trusty little 32 single six with him & even though he hadn't shot it for a while he sure did punish the squirrels, yikes! At first I let him do most of the shooting & he really lit them up, after a while I joined in & we worked on them until lunch time. Then I took him to another spot & I can't even begin to tell you how many squirrels we spotted, it was absolutely crazy. The only problem was tall grass & heavy brush, what we needed was scoped revolvers or guns with red dots because they were jumpy & as soon as we would get close enough for a shot they would disappear in the tall grass. We finished with 56 but I guarantee we saw a minimum of 300+, we just couldn't close the gap, we needed 15-20 yd shots & they were giving us 30-50 yd shots because of the cover. We will go back better prepared next time, I'll have more ammo for my Buckeye 32/20 that's scoped & also my 8 shot 38 Super that has a red dot on top. We will make them pay. Callshot got about 35 of them, he lost track, counting & reloading isn't his strong suit but he held up well in the shooting part of it, can't wait until next time. Sorry, no photo's this time, we were too busy shooting, probably next time but it's going to be messy!
