linkOBVIOUSLY FROM THE PHOTO ABOVE I FOUND MY 218 BEE AMMO, 'twas 5 BOXES I HAD NOT 4 AS I HAD MISREMEMBERED. THE AMMO FITS WELL, THE CYLINDER ROTATES AS IT SHOULD WITH THE LOADED ROUNDS. WE GOT SOME GOOD RAIN THIS WEEK, WITH A POSSIBILITY FOR MORE IN THE FORECAST SO IT MAY BE A WHILE BEFORE I CAN GET TO MY RANGE ON THE RIO GRANDE, BUT I WILL MAKE A PLAN TO GO SOMEWHERE AND SHOOT A COUPLE OF CYLINDER FULLS/CHONO 'em WITH A GARMIN ZERO C-1 AND SEE WHAT I GOT MV AND FUNCTION WISE. NOTE: NOTWITHSTANDING THE SECRET PROCESS THAT IS SUPPOSE TO ELIMINATE SET BACK/EXTRACTION ISSUES I AM GOING TO DEGREASE CHAMBERS AND CASES ANYWAY. THE MODEL 14 FRAME WAS A PINNED FRAME BUT THE BARREL I SENT JACK WAS NOT A PINNED BARREL SO HE HAD TO MODIFY IT. HE ALSO HAD TO SHORTEN THE BARREL STUB AND PROVIDE THE PLUNGER HARDWARE ON THE BARREL THAT HOLDS THE EJECTOR ROD. OAL OF THE BARREL IS NOW 5 15/16ths". THE FS IS PINNED (PROVIDING FOR OPTIONS) AND THE RS IS ALL BLACK (MAY SWITCH TO A W/O RS BLADE). THE REVOLVER ALREADY HAD A GOOD TRIGGER AND WAS A 3 T's MODEL. I HAVE SEVERAL HUNDRED OF THE HORNADY 46gr BEE BULLETS FOR WHEN I START RELOADING. MAY JUST USE UP 2 BOXES (100 ROUNDS) OF FACTORY AMMO AND THEN START RELOADING.

Looks like we may need to make a trip to Wyoming or Idaho for some small pesky critters. Looks good Rey.

WENT TO MY RANGE ON THE RIO GRANDE THIS MORNING (6/27/24), I HAD BEEN GIVING IT TIME TO DRY UP FROM SEVERAL INCHES OF RAIN LAST WEEK. 85 DEGREES ON MY WAY THERE AROUND 90 DEGREES WHEN I LEFT.
USING LIGHTER FLUID I HAD DEGREASED THE CHAMBERS AND 15 ROUNDS OF WINCHESTER 46gr FACTORY BEE AMMO. SHOT 2 3 ROUND STRINGS (LOADED 3, SHOT 3, LOADED 3, SHOT 3), USED A GARMIN XERO-C1 CHRONO, AND GOT: 1) 1711, 1678 & 1629, avg 1673, 2) 1657, 1682 & 1672, AVG 1670 (WAS HOPING FOR 1,800 out'a THE 5 15/16ths"" BARREL). I HAVE GOTTEN SIMILAR MV READINGS OUT OF A 6" MODEL 53 22 JET REVOLVER WITH A K HORNET CYLINDER AND HANDLOADS USING 40gr BULLETS. EASY EXTRACTION AND NO SET BACK ISSUES BUT HITTING OVER A FOOT LOW OF POA. 1st GROUP WAS HITTING THE TARGET HOLDER SO I MOVED MY POA UP, 2nd GROUP WAS 2" CENTER TO CENTER.
GOING TO ATTACK THE "hitting real low" ISSUE FIRST MY GETTING AS HIGH A RS BLADE AS S&W MAKES. I CALLED THEM AND THEY HAVE A RS BLADE THAT IS .196 HIGH BUT OUT OF STOCK, WILL CHECK BACK IN A WEEK OR 2. ALSO CALLED BOWEN CLASSIC ARMS (NO ANSWER) TO CHECK ON A ROUGH COUNTRY REAR SIGH, WHITE OUTLINE, WITH A HIGH ASS RS BLADE (WILL CALL BCA BACK).
I AM GUESSING THAT THE CHAMBERS ARE CUT PRETTY TIGHT AS ONE FACTORY ROUND, OF THE SEVERAL I HAVE TRIED, DID NOT SEAT ALL THE WAY.
I HAVE ALWAYS FELT LIKE 22 CF CARTIDGES IN REVOLVERS BENEFIT FROM THE LEE FACORY (COLLETT) CRIMP DIE, WHICH SEEMS TO LESSEN THE STANARD DEVIATION. TODAY I GOT IN A REDDING 2 DIE 218 SET AND A LEE FACTORY (COLLETT) CRIMP 218 BEE DIE. GOING TO: 1) COLLETT CRIMP SOME FACTORY AMMO, 2) PUT THE RS ALL THE WAY DOWN, and 3) GO SHOOT A COUPLE OF MORE 3 ROUND STRINGS TO CHECK MV AND GET A BETTER MEASUREMENT ON HOW LOW IT SHOOTS BELOW POA.
JUST GUESSING/THINKING/HOPING THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO GET TO 1,800fps, AND AT LEAST INTO THE 1,700's, WITH 46gr RELOADS, AND TIGHTEN THE GROUPS. FORTUNEATELY, I AM NOT IN A BIG HURRY SO I CAN TAKE IT STEP BY STEP.
6/29/24 CORRECTION: I DID NOT GET SIMILAR MV RESULTS WITH THE K-HORNET AND 40gr BULLETS, THEY WERE 90fps SLOWER THAN THE BEE.

I FOUND MY 6" MODEL 53 K-HORNET CYLINDERED CHRONO RESULTS USING 40 gr BULLETS, APRIL 2018, 4 SHOTS CHRONOED 1536, 1604, 1619 & 1568 USING A CHRONY, AVERAGE OF 1582fps, 90fps SLOWER THAN WHAT I WAS GETTING WITH THE FACTORY 46gr BEE AMMO. NEXT TIME OUT TO THE RANGE I WILL CHRONO THE K-HORNET AND THE BEE SIDE BY SIDE USING THE GARMIN XERO-C1.

TOOK 9 ROUNDS OF THE WINCHESTER 46gr BEE AMMO, INCLUDING THE 1 THAT WOULD NOT CHAMBER, AND APPLIED THE LEE FACTORY (COLLETT) CRIMP ('FCC') TO 'em. THEY ALL CHAMBERED.
DO NOT KNOW IF I WANT TO SHOOT UP MORE AMMO NOW OR WAIT UNTIL I GET A BOWEN W/O ROUGH COUNTRY REAR SIGHT WITH A .430 BLADE (BOWEN's EQIVALENT TO S&W's .196 BLADE), THINKING IT MAY BE BEST TO BE PATIENT AND JUST WAIT A BIT.

ORDERED THE BOWEN ROUGH COUNTRY REAR SIGHT FOR THE BEE TODAY WITH THE HIGHEST.430 BLADE (EQUIVALENT TO THE S&W .196 BLADE), GONNA BE A CUSTOM BLADE WITH A W/O, AND I PROVIDED THE MEASUREMENT SO JEREMY COULD DRILL THE FRONT SCREW HOLE SINCE THE DONOR GUN WAS AN OLDER NON-FACTORY D&T FRAME USING THE OLDER S&W REAR SIGHT ASSEMBLY. LOOKS LIKE I AM dead in the water FOR A FEW MORE WEEKS SINCE THEY ONLY BATCH BLUE AND THEIR NEXT BLUEING IS NOT IMMINENT.

WAS LOOKING FOR N FRAME HOLSTERS IN ONE OF MY cache's OF HOLSTERS AND FOUND THESE PRETTY NICE SHUCKS FOR 6" K FRAMES, MYRES ON THE LEFT, 2 HEISERS IN THE MIDDLE AND A LAWRENCE ON THE RIGHT. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF RE-HOMING (TO ME) A BOWEN DUAL CYLINDERED 32-20/327 MAG 6" K FRAME. AM THINKING THE BEE, THE BOWEN AND A 6" 16-4 32 MAG CAN BE PROPERLY SHUCKED.

I GOT THE BOWEN W/O RS IN LATE LAST WEEK AND PUT IT ON THE REVOLVER. I AM HOPING THAT THIS NEW SIGHT WILL ELIMINATE OR DIMININSH THE SHOOTING TOO LOW PROBLEM I WAS HAVING WITH THE FACTORY REAR SIGHT. I ALSO TOOK OFF THE FACTORYTARGET GRIPS AND REPLACED THEM WITH SOME DALL SHEEP GRIPS FROM ZANE THOMPSON. TO MY EYES I REALLY LIKE THE WAY THIS REVOLVER LOOKS NOW. HERE ARE A COUPLE OF PICTURES: linklink
IT HAS BEEN RAINING SO IT MAY BE A FEW DAYS UNTIL I GET TO MY RANGE ON THE RIO GRANDE AND SHOOT THE BEE.

WENT TO MY RANGE ON THE RIO GRANDE THIS MORNING (10/11/24). NICE MORNING, A PLEASANT 70 DEGREES AND NOT TOO MUCH WIND. WAS BASICALLY TRYING TO GET SIGHTED IN, AT 25 YARDS, WITH THE NEW BOWEN RS. LOOKS LIKE WITH THE RS SIGHT ALL THE WAY UP AND ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT I MAY BE WHERE I WANT TO BE. ONE GROUP, WHERE I BEARED DOWN ON A 2" SIGHTING DOT, WAS 1.25" CENTER TO CENTER. 12 SHOTS AVERAGED 1,699fps WITH A HIGH OF 1,734 AND LOW OF 1634, WHICH WAS AN OUTLIER AS THE NEXT LOWEST WAS 1679. WAS USING THE WINCESTER 46gr AMMO. NO SET BACK NOR EXTRACTION ISSUES.
I RE-CRIMPED THE FACTORY AMMO WITH A LEE COLLETT CRIMP DIE. LOOKS LIKE I WAS GETTING AROUND 30fps MORE MV, IN LOWER TEMPERATURES, THAN WITH THE NON RRECRIMPED AMMO. THE SHEEP HORN MAGNA STYLE GRIPS WORKED GREAT.
SO FAR SO GOOD.
