linkGOT THE ABOVE PICTURE FROM JACK HUNTINGTON YESTERDAY, MY K FRAME 218 BEE PROJECT IS ON HIS WORK BENCH AND HE HAS STARTED WORK ON IT. WHEN DONE I WILL HAVE 22 CF K FRAMES IN 22 JET, 22 SUPER JET, 22 K-HORNET, 224 K-CHUK AND 218 BEE (THE 22 SUPER JET AND THE K-HORNET ARE XTRA CYLINDERS ON 22 JET REVOLVERS). TRAPR AND I OFTEN LAMENT THE LACK OF LITTLE CRITTER OPPORTUNITIES IN OUR PARTS OF TEXAS WHERE VARMINT REVOLVERS ARE LIKE TITS ON A BOAR HOG, BUT WHAT THE HECK. I HAVE A FA MODEL 97 45 COLT "NEW BULLET" LOAD TO DEVELOP AND A FRESHLY WORKED ON 9.5" 480 SRH BACK FROM SOME WORK BY GARY REEDER TO SORT OUT AND THEN I AM HOPING TO START WORKING WITH MY 22 CF's.

Bowen told me “the S&W k frame is the OM .357 Blackhawk of double actions for building custom sixguns”.
Yours should be cool! Jack built me a little 4” k frame .327 Federal. He did a nice job.

I SENT JACK A MODEL 14 FRAME WITH A CRANE MODIFIED FOR THE LONGER 22 JET CYLINDERS, A 22lr AUXILLARY CYLINDER FOR A 22 JET SMITH AND A 6" S&W 22 MAGNUM (RIMFIRE BARREL). DID NOT WANT TO USE A .222 JET BARREL SO OPTED FOR A "CORRECT" BARREL FOR THE 218 BEE. THE BARREL STUB WILL HAVE TO BE SHORTENED TO MATE WITH THE LONGER AUXILLARY CYLINDER.

Rey, I'm the opposite. I'm overrun with small game and mourn the availability of small game revolvers.
I've got a plague of rabbits. Not unusual to have 4-11 in my yard at any given time.
Squirrels are just as bad. Then possums, raccoons, armadillo, and all sorts of small critters. A two acre pond that American Red Ear Turtles hang out in makes good target practice.
Excellent gun in a wonderful caliber.

WHEN I GOT INTO 22 JETS BACK IN THE MID 70's I HOT ROD'ed MY LOADS TRYING TO MATCH CLAIMED FACTORY BALLISTICS, 'twas A FUTILE EFFORT. NOW SOME 50 YEARS LATER I AM GOING TO USE IMR 4227 AND SETTLE FOR REASONABLE LOADS. FOR THE BEE I WILL START WITH SEVERAL BOXES OF FACTORY AMMO I HAVE ON HAND.

If you can find any of the 40 grn 22 TCM Bullets, they are excellent for the 218 Bee Revolver. Even using Unique and 2400 data from the old Phil Sharpe Manual.
I bought 4000 of those bullets for $70/1000 ppd. I'll try to find that website.

WAS TEXTING WITH JACK HUNTINGTON YESTERDAY. THIS WAS HIS FIRST K FRAME 218 BEE PROJECT (NOTE: TO DO A K FRAME 218 BEE YOU WOULD NEED A CUSTOM MADE LONG CYLINDER OR A A 22 JET AUXILLARY 22lr CYLINDER AS THE MODEL 17 SIZE CYLINDERS ARE TOO SHORT FOR FACTORY AMMO). JACK SAYS HE HAS A BUILD PROCESS THAT DEALS WITH EXCESS GAS SO AS TO MAKE SMALL CALIBER BOTTLENECK CARTRIDGES VIABLE IN REVOLVERS. NO DETAILS ON WHAT IT IS AS HE HAS A PATENT PENDING OR SOMETHING OR OTHER. HE DID SAY HE COULD DO THE PROCESS ON EXISTING REVOLVERS, SUCH AS 22 JETS.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH 22 CF CARTRIDGES SUCH AS THE JET AND THE K-HORNET IN DA REVOLVERS IS THAT AS YOU WENT UP IN POWDER CHARGES YOU WOULD EXPERIENCE EXTRACTION AND/OR SET BACK ISSUES EVEN IF YOU HAD DEGREASED THE BRASS AND THE CHAMBERS, SO THAT YOU COULD NEVER GET TO MAX LOADS.
AS PART OF MY BEE PROJECT I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO REVISIT LOADS FOR MY OTHER 22 CF REVOLVERS, LOOKS LIKE I AM GETTING BACK INTO THE eerie world THAT IS 22 CF RELOADING FOR REVOLVERS.

My JRH 25-20 and 218 Bee were early examples of his "No Setback" Process.
We discussed in depth and I reported results accordingly. He asked me not to post details, so I've respected his request.
Since you posted, I'll only confirm it works...

Encore64: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HE DOES TO WHAT AS PART OF HIS PROCESS AS JRH DID NOT SHARE THE DETAILS WITH ME, HE ONLY SHARED THAT HE DID SOMETHING TO DEAL WITH LOCK-UP/SET-BACK ISSUES. DEPENDING ON HOW THE K FRAME BEE WORKS OUT I MAY SEND HIM 1 OR 2 JET REVOLVERS FOR THE PROCESS.

I'm betting you'll love the gun.
It's an awesome revolver cartridge. Digging the other day, I pulled out a plastic storage box and found 15 bags of Winchester 218 Bee Brass. I've got several revolvers and rifles so chambered.

GOT THE BEE, LOOKS GOOD, I KNOW IT HAS A BARREL CYLINDER GAP BUT IT MUST BE PRETTY TIGHT AS I CAN'T SEE ANY LIGHT. NOTICED SOME STUFF THAT MAY BE PART OF THE SECRET PROCESS BUT IN DEFERENCE TO JRH I WILL NOT DESCRIBE IT NOR PHOTO IT. RIGHT NOW I AM SUPER BUMMED OUT AS I CANNOT FIND MY 4 BOXES OF BEE AMMO *@!"'^*# LOOKED AND LOOKED, WILL LOOK AGAIN TOMORROW. WHEN I HAVE SOME AMMO IN HAMD I WILL REPORT BACK FURTHER.
