This new Lipseys edition 77 for the Ruger 75th anniversary is awesome. I put a leupold vxiii 1.5-5x20. My favorite little scopes. Thats my no1 in 450/400 NE 3" next to it. I plan to shoot the 35 Whelen this weekend. Have dies, etc on the way. Found a few boxes of the Hornady 200g load to start with.

That's a good looking gun and I like the same scope. Claw mounts call for a 1 inch straight tube scope with good eye relief and these fit the bill.

Got mine last week want the same scope only gloss. These look fine. Have to buy what shows up for fair price. These bring 300+ easily.

The hornady super performance load is listed as 200gr interlock bullet at 2910 fps. Im interested to see if it really runs that fast. Will be firing mine in the morning.

Yes. 2910. My error. 2910 is really stretching the 35 whelen limits. Agreed, that's an impressive velocity, assuming that it's real (and not from a 30-inch barrel).

10 shot test. 1" maybe a fraction over. Hornady Super Performance 200g inter lock Garmin cero chrony. 2935 avg fps 78 spread 25 standard deviation
Accurate enough but not as consistent velocity as I would hope for longer ranges. If I use a higher power scope I could do better. But I think 150 yds is about my max range on a pig at this time, so I think it definitely shoots minute of hog.
I really want to shoot 250g bullets so that will be my handloading focus.

I have one of the Anniversary edition 35 Whelen rifles still new in box. I am waiting to see if my cousin gets this Nilgi hunt arranged before I scope mine. I will probably use a scope very close to yours but mine will need a 30mm tube. A 25 power scope doesn't look quite right to me on a hunting rig; plus it really increases weight. Dont get me wrong, I have high power magnification scopes on some rifles for long distance piggin. I just like lighter scopes for actual hunting. heck, Carlos Hathcock used a 10x Unertl or Redfield for 1,000 yard shots, but I am not that good.

I’ve got the same rifle and am mounting a Leupold FXII 2.5X Ultralight scope to it in Alaska Arms QD mounts, glass and pillar bedding and tuning the trigger. Hoping to take an elk or two this fall here in Wyoming with it using Barnes 200gr TSX. Let us know how y’all’s shoot, gentlemen.
