Gentlemen,
I’ve read through the Favorite Semi Auto thread and enjoyed the hell out of it. But I need your advice here to help me spend my money.
Hear me out: I carry a Glock 48 as my EDC concealed weapon currently. But I’ve read a bit about striker fire safety issues carrying loaded and I want to move to a DA or DA/SA semi auto so that I can safely carry chambered but uncocked.
Furthermore, most concealed carry oriented sidearms are fully on the “tool” end of the spectrum but lack soul and sex appeal, if I can use that term.
Forgive me if I am wrong here, but I believe the spirit of the Singleaction online community is based on something deeper than a mutual appreciation for the function of firearms. You guys appreciate the finer things in life and especially the finer firearms.
That is what I am asking for help with; finding a concealable, reliable, DAO or DA/SA semi auto that is worthy of being handed down to my son someday. Perhaps that gun doesn’t exist in this category but that is at least my thought process when I purchase. Fire away with your thoughts and suggestions. And thanks to anyone who has read this far.

Other than some shorty revolvers and 1911’s. My two favorites are SW 4516 and 669/6906 guns, big trigger guards for glove use 3.25-3.5” barrels, stainless and aluminum construction, accurate to 50 for me, 9mm and 45acp. There is also a 4013 in the same guise only 40sw caliber, all are relatively inexpensive.

I really like my Kahr T9, they also make a T40 and a K9. I've owned all of them and would recommend any of them to meet your needs.

CZ85. A 75 is nice too, but I prefer the combat features of the 85

I’ve read good things about all of the above. But the CZ 75 profile is just so attractive. And they’re affordable. I’m looking at the CZ 7 D PCR Compact (it’s a mouthful and it’s lighter weight due to an alum. alloy frame. I’m also looking hard at the Sig P229 Compact Legion which I haven’t seen any info online here about but seems to be in the ballpark.
Perhaps I neednot overthink this and just leave this type of forearm more in the “tool” category in my mind and keep the heirlooms to single and double action revolvers and bolt action rifles.

Welp, I just found a new CZ 75 D PCR Compact at the local FFL for $400. Can’t say no. Must pick up. But The Quest continues on all fronts, full steam ahead…

I can’t unsee that now. Lust is a powerful emotion. Thank you. Not sure that the features listed warrant the price they have on it, but it sure does look a lot nicer than the standard PCR. A girl can dream…

wyomingnimrod.... the SIG/Sauer P220 .45 ACP and SIG/Sauer P229 .357 Sig remain my two most-carried double action autos. Both accurate and dead nuts reliable, with fully usable DA and top notch SA trigger pulls. The P220 was good enough for 10x10 IHMSA pigs @ 100 meters, shooting the original Winchester Black Talon 230 JHP. The P229 was good for 7x10 turkeys @ 150 meters (165 yards) with Federal .357 Sig 125 JHP. The P229 is a bit more accurate and much flatter at 100 yards and beyond. Fixed Trijicon sights on both. These are not sub-compact guns, but comfortable for long hours.
Today I would carry the .45 with Remington Golden Saber 230 JHP, Speer Gold Dot 230 JHP, or Federal Hydra-Shot 230 JHP. Or, various other excellent loads.
Holsters worn most often P220----Gene DeSantis inside belt, outside pants; Lou Alessi shoulder rig with opposing double mag pouch. P229----Ernie Hill horsehide, inside belt clip-on.
All leather receives occasional mix of heated clear mineral oil & beeswax David Bradshaw

A girl can dream… I agree the price seems high for the work done. I bought a slightly used one for $1600 a couple of years ago. Actually I traded a ruger #1 416 Rigby for it. But it's about the best DA carry pistol out there.

You’ve swung me back to my Sig leanings (though I must still pick up the CZ 75 D PCR for pennies on the dollar). A question, sir: with your holster for the P229, were you comfortable carrying that pistol concealed?

The Kahr K9 is a slick gun and very well made as mentioned above.
I love Sigs too, extremely accurate. But I have to be careful with how I let my thumb ride or I’ll drop slide on empty mag 🤣
