I bought a 6 inch octagon barrel 44 Mag today. Pusher made me a good price on it because it has been sitting for a while now. I dont have feeler gauges but a cut piece of soda can wont go between the cylinder and the forcing cone. Has cartridge heads recessed into the cylinder with some kind of cutout at the rim; presumably so you can see the brass and know it is loaded. 3 click hammer and hammer mounted firing pin. Rather beautiful bluing, very similar to Colt bluing but not quite.
I had the choice of a Ruger NM Blackhawk 45 Colt that had some sort of bead blasted finish applied and the grips fit like cow patties on the frame, plus endshake. A Ruger stainless Vaquero (NM) 4 inch with endshake or the Uberti new in box. I took the Uberti.
I plan on using light 44 Magnum loads in 44 Mag brass. I like the sights, I like the trigger break and I love the octagon barrel. If it shoots half decent I will be using it a lot.

Keep us posted on how it shoots. I've considered one of those myself.

The Cimarron (Uberti) Bad Boy is the Uberti Callahan with an octagon barrel.
I've got the Uberti Callahan and Cimarron Bad Boys in 44 Magnum and 10mm. They are all three outstanding guns.
And Trey, I highly recommend you adding a 44-40 Cylinder. It's easy and Uberti chambers their 44-40s correctly for modern bullets.
I added a 44-40 Cylinder to both the above 44 Magnums and a 38-40 Cylinder to the 10mm.

P.S., the 44-40 loaded to 45 ACP Pressures is impressive. It'll match the stout 44 Special Power.
I've found the 44-40 to be stupid accurate in most guns. The Uberti is no exception, it's impressive!
I believe the slight neck and the fact the neck expands easily and seals off the chamber. This usually results in very uniform ballistics.
Accuracy, by definition, is nothing more or less than everything being the same from shot to shot. Consistency is all important...

I picked up a 6” Bad Boy about a month ago. Just got around to shooting her last week. So far, so good. Mines probably only gonna see warm 44 specials.

I would buy shots AND post pics but I am unable to do either. Anyone volunteering to post them please PM me a cell number. Probably wont get to it till tomorrow though.

I like everything about mine except shooting it ! Turns out the 1860 grip frame is the knuckle whacker from Hades for me. However it has become my wife's favorite revolver especially with Skeeter level 44 special loads.

How does one go about getting another cylinder? I have never done it before so this is new to me.

My only complaint about my Callahan and BB 44 Magnums was undersized (my definition) throats.
Just like my FA97 44 Special, they were undersized for cast bullets. The Ubertis had .429" and the FA was even smaller.
What makes even less sense was the Forcing Cones all accepted .431" Bullets perfectly.
So, off went the Uberti Cylinders to Fermin. He opened to .430" and I Flex-Honed another .0005".
Problem Solved...

I had all of 20 rounds of 44 Special ammo I was able to find yesterday and took my new weapon out for an informal spin at the pond shooting sticks and turtles. Even with a mix of loads and bullets, this weapon shot as well as my FA 454. I am in love. No leading whatsoever. The rifling still looks like it is unfired. I have not checked the throats yet but as I see so far there is no need. The trigger needs a little breaking in and a deburring of parts sure wouldn't hurt a thing. The sights are great, plenty of room on both sides of the front sight for accurate shooting. It did shoot high with 44 Specials which I expected. Plus I just love the octagon barrel. A little style in the mix never hurts. The only one target I missed was with the first shot because I did not know how high it was hitting. Once that riddle was solved hits on sticks at around 75 feet were no problem even one handed.
I have always been a die-hard Ruger man. Well, in my humble opinion, this weapon tells Ruger they better tighten up and get busy if they are going to stay in the game. Especially when I get a new firearm for the cost of a used Ruger. Untill I get around a thousand or at least several hundred rounds through this Uberti I cannot comment on their longevity, but if another comes along at the right price I will not hesitate to buy it.
