Sixshot made a comment the other day that got me thinking….. How many different calibers have I used to take feral hogs, swine, wild boar whatever. The individual calibers are a bit much to recall, but the bore sizes are fairly easy. Starting at .22 and ending with .51 here is my list, rifle and handgun all included. .22….yes .24….no, can easily be rectified .25….yes .26….yes .27….no, can easily be rectified .28….yes .30….yes .31….no .32….no .33….yes .34….no, soon to be rectified .35….yes .36….no, soon to be rectified .37….no .40….no, actually cannot recall if I have or not .41….yes .44….yes .45….yes .47….no .50….yes .51….yes

Hunting only or does pig trap killing count? Trapping dont count, at least on my tally sheet. All of mine were done in the field, including my two 22 rimfire kills. To me claiming hogs from a trap is misleading, I’ve never kept track of ones taken from a trap. Trapr

Chalked up 3 more to the .357 this week. Probably 4, but i got cocky and lined up 2 thinking id have plenty of penetration to get it done. The first in line was doa. The second was sure sickly looking while exiting the scene of the crime, but alas, she went unrecovered. A foolish thing to do with any gun, and i wont likely try it again. Yes, most folks despise them, but taking them humanely is just better.

I have had folks want to “try” and double up and I have been tempted a few times but have seen it fail too many times. On my list in the .41 bore, there was a year or so of 416rm during my initial abatement work and even with it I stayed away from doubling up.

Only count they get is when I tell Dad I took "X" amount from traps and "X" amount with the rifle. They dont count on the tally book.
