There's a few down sides to them, the only up side is aesthetics. And yet, we don't mind. I've had a No.1 RSI in .243 35 years. Two weeks ago I REALLY overpaid for a Sako Forester in .308. Been carefully shopping a Steyr MC or MCA for a long while, just waiting for the right one at the right price.

If you like them and they suit your needs, who cares what anyone else thinks.
The Ruger RSI has always been a handsome modern rifle. I am currently stocking then bluing an Intermediate Mauser in .358 Winchester. You could say I'm a fan of the Full Stock rifles.
Got an original Oberndorf Mauser Type "S" in 7x57. Love it.
Glad you found yourself a nice rifle. The #1 is a real nice platform and the RSI treatment even better.

I've had 2: a Ruger RSI in 30-06 which was excellent, and a Sako .375 H&H with a wandering zero that I gave up on.

They look good, some look great.
They aren’t bipod friendly which is sometimes inconvenient.

The Mannlicher stock on a carbine shares the beauty statement of a Colt Peacemaker with its barrel flush to the extractor housing. My Ruger M-77 International Carbines in .308 and .243 Winchester were surprisingly accurate. Once, zeroed, however, too alter the powder charge half a grain shifted ZERO. Brought, one evening, to Bill's cocktail hour the target of pig painted on cardboard, with a 3x3-shot group of 2-1/2 or 3-inches, fired prone @ 200 yards with Federal 150 SP. The M-77 .308 Mannlicher with pencil-thin 1:10 twist 18-1/2” barrel mounted a Leupold 3x scope. “I suppose you’re going to tell me that’s not accurate,” says Bill. “No, Bill. I think it’s excellent." Later on, I glass bedded the muzzle at the forened, which tightened groups and even made 5-shot groups possible. The ,243 was equally impressive. Like the .308, any deviation in load shifted Point of Impact. David Bradshaw
