Varget or IMR4895 have always worked well for me, with 308W / 168 grain in bolt guns.

Varget is a good consistent powder for 308, However AA2520 was made to run in semi autos and it being a ball powder meters sooooo nice thru a progressive machine or powder measure that it has been my go to powder for the last 20 years for my gas guns, and all my other 308’s. Accurate powders refers to it as their Camp Perry powder for both 308 and heavy bullet 223 loads, as I said I’ve been using it for all my 3 gun loads for 223/308. It is also a very good powder in a number of other calibers as well.

My favorite bullet to run for hunting in all my 308’s except two that have 1-12 twist is 165gr. bullets. Hornady SP, Nosler Part, Barnes TSX, Rem CoreLokt, and Hornady GMX/CX. Have all given great reliability on both game and accuracy

I was using Win 748, with 150 Hornady interlock bullets with really good accuracy, but decided to save the rest of that powder for 30-30, and switched to Shooters World AR plus, and the results were very impressive, with 100 fps gained with 4.5 gr less powder than the 748, it is a ball powder, and burns very clean. Forget the exact number, but velocity was over 2700 fps, from an 18" barrel

So many good powders that work in the 308 . I'm currently working with Norma 203b, supposed to be the same as Reloader 15 . A favorite load is 42 grains of IMR 4064 in LC brass with a Sierra or Nosler 168 match bullet. That load has shot good in every 308 I've owned and great in some of them.

The Shooters World AR plus also from powder valley is $203 per 8#, obviously designed for AR rifles , with free hazmat, pretty good deal, it is an excellent powder , for those that don't know, Shooters World powders are made by Lovex, the same company that made the Accurate powders.
