I am disappointed in S&W. Friday afternoon I bought a S&W MP 10mm Performance Center.
As a rule, I like to field strip and clean the gun up. Well in the process you must flip this little lime green painted sear disconnect in the frame to take the slide and barrel off the frame.
Guess what? It fell out of the frame!
Apparently, the factory did not put in a pin to hold it in place! To me this is inexcusable.
I returned the unused firearm to the shop with hopes that this problem is resolved.
For some reason I am not sure if S&W is trustworthy.

S&W in the recent years has taken a turn for the worse concerning things like this. I dont know if we just hear about them more because of the internet or if this is a more often occurring thing. When the "custom shop" first started up on revolvers we had a TON of them come back to the gunshop where I worked part time. It happened so often that they were called "professionally messed up" guns. Revolvers that came out of the custom shop that were not messed up were the exception to the rule. I do own two, but they were hand picked, used firearms that I could ask the owner if there were any problems. If they said they were great, just never used, I gave them a look. Sometimes that was the truth, sometimes it was not. Definitely a buyer beware situation.

I'm also onboard regard this. I just can't bring myself to order one unseen.
While it thrills me to find really good ones like the M19 and more recently, the 27, it shouldn't.
It should be what we expect, not what we hope to find...

It's really sad that an iconic brand has more quality issues than the bargain brands now days.

S&W must have hired some of the Colt's technicians after the CZ acquisition. Seems to fit their pattern.

Once that issue is resolved, please post your thoughts. You too Chief. I've been sidering a 10mm for a while and have been considering that model.

I have zero complaints with mine. Picked it up and went straight to the range and fired 200rds without a hiccup. Accuracy could've been better but they were junk reloads from an online seller. I bought the ammo to get cheap cases for my own junk reloads. I'll try some decent loads and see what happens. I like it;

Hello All: I got my new Smith and Wesson back. Now my hats off to Rocky Mountain Sports. The manager made a deal. He said we will send out the gun for repair and when we get a new one in you can have that one. I had to do the paperwork over, but I have a new working gun. That place is awesome for customer service and advice.
PS: About six weeks ago I took a huge chance. I did a job transfer to Wyoming from Massachusetts. It is challenging but I do see more outdoor opportunities and much more freedom compared to the state I was born in and raised in. Also, RMS is immensely helpful for advice. I am a stranger in a strange land, and they have given me a great deal of advice regarding Wyoming life.

Kudos here. You've discovered the general fact that places like Wyoming have better customer service than those in Mass.

I find all manufacturers have there ups and downs. I got a Freedom arms a while back and after waiting a year. And costing far more then most other guns and getting more hand's on attention, it had issues with the cylinder turning and clocking correctly and the trigger as well. And they do far less volume then S&W.
