Even though I had taken a couple of nice moose with lever guns, I still wanted to take one with a handgun so I booked another hunt for moose with the Shoemaker's immediately following the 2020 hunt. Moose hunting is addictive, but this HAS to be the last one!  funny you want one with a handgun, I’ve taken all mine with a handgun, I want to go to Canada and take one with a Levergun. |

I've killed exactly one moose. Broadside double lung shot from 30yds with a 300gr jsp out of a S&W M29. It just hunched up and walked away.
After following the blood trail for 75yds, I found it. In a pond. You don't understand cold until you try getting a moose out of the water when it's cold enough for a skim of ice on the water.
That was before atv's were common or I was old enough to think ahead and have waders in the truck. Or a come-along. Tasty burgers though.
