Today I was presented with a 6" S&W M25-2 45ACP.
Now I need to learn about moon clips & how to load/un-load them.
Currently I have two clips.
What type of tool/technique is required to avoid bending the clips?
Thank you.

Curious….does AR generally work in a stock 45acp revolver without modification?? I don’t have any experience with it.

Generally if the 45 ACP revolvers uses moon clips then AR will work. FWIW I have a 45 ACP Charter Arms Pit Bull that does not use moon clips and AR WILL NOT work in.

HALF MOON CLIPS CAN GENERALLY BE LOADED UNLOADED BY HAND. FOR FULL MOON CLIPS I NEED A MOONER AND A DE-MOONER. I THINK TK CUSTOMS CAN PROBABLY SUPPLY ALL THAT YOU MAY NEED.

Moonclips: tkcustom.com/collections/s-w-moonclipsFor range use the plastic Rimz work well: www.ezmoonclip.com/RIMZ%20625%2045%20acp.htmI do love moon clips. I had a Model 25 .45 Colt cut to use moon clips so I could shoot .45 Colt (with or without clips) and .45 ACP. It would also shoot .460 Rowland but I wouldn’t do a lot of them. Clark Custom Guns did that one and I also had one done by Pinnacle High Performance.

I use several handguns that require moon clips. I use mooning tools as well as de-mooning tools. Get a good mooner,, and you can actually make a de-mooner easily. Also,, get a lot more clips!

When I had a S&W 45 acp revolver I switched from the steel clips with related “tools” to the RIMZ plastic and never looked back. No tools needed and they worked great. They come in two different sizes, a light and heavy. Don’t remember the different product numbers. I preferred the heavier one.

Just arrived today. It is a very nifty tool! Also have some plastic clips on the way. Good, you have a tool to assisted filling and emptying clips. Now you need clips. When S&W perfected the full moon clip they decided against producing it themselves. Instead, they contracted with Ranch Products in Malinta, OH. to make them. S&W supplied drawings and specifications for the clips. Ranch Products has been making the ever since. They are the only brand I used in competition. Still the only ones I carry with the edc. Yes, there are other brands. Some make their own and some merely rebrand the clips from Ranch Products. A 6” Model 25-2 is what I wanted when I competed in PPC. My Model 25-2 had a 6.5” barrel. Only 1/2” too long but still too long for registered matches. The Model 25-2 has the same shallow rifling specified by the Army in 1917 for the Model 1917. It is designed for hardball but can be made to work with cast or seated bullets. I like a cast bullet with a long bearing surface over a hardball dose of powder. My two favorites are the Lyman 453423 and the SAECO 453. Both are about 235 grains, the Lyman is a SWC and the SAECO is a full wadcutter. My latest Model 25-2, Kevin

Curious….does AR generally work in a stock 45acp revolver without modification?? I don’t have any experience with it. That is in fact precisely what it was designed and brought into this world to do. It is for ACP revolver users who prefer a rim. Sure wish they would do that for a 30 carbine! I know ,32-20, it just doesn't work well for me.

Reeder can fix that carbine Blackhawk.. Makes it a 300 GNR with a simple rechamber. More or less an improved 30 Herrett. He has dies and loading data too!
